Owner description: Ocean Safari offers an exhilarating ride to snorkel the pristine untouched Great Barrier Reef off the Daintree Coast at Cape Tribulation. This half day eco tour visits two different snorkel destinations, each with an extraordinary array of marine life and coral species. The tour begins at Cape Tribulation beach where guests board the vessel bound for the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef. After an exhilarating fast ride of approximately 25 minutes guests are ready to snorkel two fabulous locations at Mackay and Undine Reefs. On most days the rainforest can be seen along the mainland beach whilst snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, home to an abundance of marine life as well as beautiful hard and soft corals. The Ocean Safari vessel takes a maximum of 25 passengers allowing guests to experience tropical paradise and the pleasure of a small group. The vessel is based on the original design of a rescue craft and is a rigid inflatable boat driven by 700hp engines. The experienced Skipper and Eco Host ensure the trip is filled with fun and appreciation of the Great Barrier Reef and the coastal rainforest of the Daintree, two world heritage areas side by side. Magical memories like these sometimes only happen once in a lifetime. With calm sea and a great crew, once again Mackay Reef was brilliant. I went New Years Eve and I am still thinking of the number of turtles I saw, resting and swimming, loads of parrot fish, all different colours, blue coral and starfish, and the coral so clear and sparkling in the sunshine.
Just like in the movies but for real and very, very good. Thank you; I keep referring you.

went out with Ocean Safari on Christmas Eve, we're lucky enough to have pristine conditions, and found the experience to be thoroughly enjoyable. It was great to go with a smaller outfit , the boat trip out to the reef was quick, and fun, and the guys in charge were friendly, knowledgable, and competent. We are a family of 4', two young adult daughters, and we all had a ball. Would highly recommend going with Ocean Safari , it's a half day trip, and that is the perfect amount of time for snorkelling, we felt .

This half-day reef snorkelling tour departed Cape Tribulation on a beautiful, still, and sunny morning, the cruise to Mackay reef taking around half an hour. During the trip, we enjoyed a breathtaking view back to the Daintree rainforest, Cape Tribulation, and Mount Sorrow, as well as spotting tuna frollicking near the boat. We snorkelled at two different sites, probably spending a total of 1.5 to 2 hours in the clear, warm, inviting water, exploring colourful coral and spotting a variety of marine life including sea turtles - one of which was recognisable by its injured left forelimb, the poor thing.

Apart from the unforgettable snorkelling experience, I was also impressed by the crew's obvious passion and enthusiasm for the welfare of the reef and the marine eco-system; it was apparent that they cared strongly for this environment and sought to minimise human impact on the pristine site. They were also accommodating, friendly, and very knowledgable - you couldn't ask for much more really and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ocean Safari.

Stinger suits and snorkel gear were provided and there was even the opportunity to purchase an underwater camera (you can pay when you get back to shore so no need to take cash) so the only things you really need to bring are water to keep hydrated, sunscreen for your face and neck, and a sense of wonder!

I had pre-booked this trip long time before, so I was very disappointed when our trip was cancelled the originally date, because of heavy winds. I had been really looking forward to this trip, so then again I got very happy that we got a second chance to go with the ocean safari on our last day in Daintree. Sadly we were a bit in a rush when it finished because we had to get to the Daintree River in time for another attraction we had pre-booked. Anyway, the reviews were absolutely correct.

The snorkeling was fantastic! Simply our best snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, mainly because of the colorful corals and the clear water. The boat-ride was quite thrilling itself, a fun ride! The snorkel guide apparently saw flying fish on the way out, but I didn´t manage to see any. The guides were also very knowledgable about the reef and cared a lot about it.

We snorkeled for more than one hour in two different locations, so we had plenty of time, and we spotted several coral-fishes I´ve not seen before (or at least not in the Great Barrier Reef). Turtles, eagle ray, titan triggerfish and pufferfish was some other nice sights. Also, I´ve never seen huge tridacna clams, and especially not in colonies. Really impressive!

Ocean Safari is a must do in Cape Tribulation!
Highly recommended.

Superb. Compared to the full day reef trip from Cairns this was much better. Service was more fun and personal, views of reef better and only a 30 min ride before snorkelling. A hidden gem where the crew works hard to make sure everyone gets a memorable experience.
