Really liked where this house was located - not too far from the nearest town...about 10 minutes. The last bit of road (about 100m) before you turn into the property is unsealed, which might be an issue for some rental cars - I think some include a note about not taking rentals on unsealed roads.
The house sits on a hill, so has views in all directions. The owners house is about 50 metres away, so you need to be mindful of noise to some degree, but they are close enough if you have questions, etc.
Internet connection was great, as was mobile service (I'm with Optus).
Breakfast basket was included with our rate, and was very generous with gluten free options as well, and did us for both dinner and breakfast.
As the house is on an olive farm, you can buy different types of olives in glass jars at reception. We bought extra for friends as they are done up nicely.
My daughter met the farm's dog, Binkle, and enjoyed patting and interacting with him/her. Though, she didn't know his/her name at the time, so named him Olive:) If you don't like dogs, you can let the owners know, and they will keep the dog/s away.
The house is nicely renovated with mostly French Provincial type furniture. As it is a Queenslander, the main bedroom is in the centre of the house, with rooms on every side of it. So, although it didn't have any windows on any of its walls, it has a ceiling fan and air-conditioning, and a connecting ensuite which has windows to let in fresh air. We made the mistake of leaving lights on in the bedroom while we were elsewhere, which meant quite a few bugs were attracted to the bedroom light. The house is screened, but they must have gotten in when we were going in and out doors. Thankfully bug spray was in the kitchen that we could use to spray the bedroom before retiring. Writing about this so others might remember to turn off lights in rooms not being used. Unless of course you like bugs:) I found the bed to be quite hard, but the pillows were great. Anyone with a bad back would appreciate the bed.
Water pressure was great, couch comfortable, DVDs by the TV if you were interested, magazines, compendium with local information, huge shower off the second bedroom, bath and over bath shower in main ensuite, dishwasher and microwave in kitchen (both welcome appliances when on holiday!) as well as full stove.
We really enjoyed our time at The Grove, and swimming in the pool, and basking in the absolute quiet of the country.
We had an amazing time at that beautiful cottage!! Absolutely adored the interior of the house and the views from the balcony are to die for. Our kids loved feeding the sheep and playing with Binco( the owner's dog) while we were enjoying nice glass of red and homegrown very tasty olives and olive oil!! You absolutely have to try the platter Barbara makes, with beautiful olive oil, nice bread and tasty olives( I actually got some to take home with me)) The owners are lovely people and make you really welcome!! It was one of the best holidays I have had In Australia so far!! Thank you Barbara and Glynn!
The Grove is located ideally in a Olive Grove established by the hosts Barbara and Glynn, with a 360 degree view of the undulating hills and a backdrop of the scenic rim. The B & B offers peaceful days and nights which you can relax in any of the rooms which have been thoughtfully designed with a touch of Parisian in mind. This property is ideal for young families and families with teenage children like mine, where you can have morning or afternoon walks and then go for a swim in the newly built pool. The hosts are close by for convenience but far away for privacy.
We had a great family catch up at this beautiful Queenslander. Thank you for such a great location and house.
The pool was cool and the scenery pretty.
Thank you from our family, friends who shared the visit with us.
Barbara and Glynn's B&B is a classic Queenslander set in an olive grove amidst the rolling hills of the Boonah district. With fireplace and pool it is a getaway for any season. Attention to detail is apparent in every aspect from the well-appointed furnishings to the superb breakfast with country-fresh produce. Unfortunately our stay was short but we will certainly be be visiting again.
A classy, cosy cottage. We really were swept off our feet by this little gem. From the lovely olive grove view, to the ginormous bath, the cosy fireplace and the beautiful furnishings... Every detail of the cottage welcomed us. We felt very spoilt. It's a goer! Thank you!
My husband and I recently had a four night stay at this beautiful country cottage, which we enjoyed very much. The cottage is very comfortable, tastefully renovated and furnished in heritage style, well appointed, has magnificent views, and to top it off a swimming pool. It is close to many attractions in the Scenic Rim area. It's only about 15km to Boonah which has shops and cafes and in close proximity to many walks, dams and national parks. Hosts, Barbara and Glynn, have provided many brochures on local attractions and activities, which are very helpful. Our stay was just before Easter and the little bag of Easter eggs that was there on arrival was a lovely touch. Also the homemade fig jam. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage as a superb place to stay as a romantic getaway or as a base for the many activities in the Scenic Rim
