“Good work undone”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

My girlfriend and I arrived at this restaurant with no expectations, and were pleasantly surprised by the rustic setting and quality of service - the two sons working the floor were friendly, attentive and good for a laugh.

Our dinner arrived promptly and was reasonably good, and all in all the night was very enjoyable - right up until the owner/chef/matriarch commanded the attention of the restaurant for a 15-20 minute treatise on the history of the factory, the restaurant, her forebears, which room they died in, her children, her children's partners, her children's ex's, and so on.

Although this level of information may be of interest to some, I'd suggest not all patrons are interested in their dining experience being interrupted by self indulgent, unsolicited babble - save that for those willing to pay $10 for the daily tour.

“Fantastic, friendly & hearty country Italian”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Lovely food, warm and friendly service and the owner was really lovely and spoke to us about the family history of the restaurant and the area. They also had some great local wines and the bolognase was made with really nice meat. Was a fantastic night out. Finished a lovely day we had in the Hepburn springs area.

“Authentic food, great atmosphere and lovely family!”
Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

Had dinner at Lucini's last night with my sweetheart. It's a small family run restaurant in a beautiful 1850s building. Really loved the character and charm of the building and the decor. The owner, Maria, and her family including son and granddaughters, make this an absolutely heartwarming place where you will always feel welcome! The food is very authentic, hearty and portions are generous. The gorgeous Italian music playing in the background definitely added to the atmosphere. Yes, there may be a tad too much cheese on the pasta but who cares when you it's overall such a great dinning experience!

“Honest? thought it was some kind of Candid Camera”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

I ate here with my childred and grandchild. The food appeared to be packet that was re-heated and right out of the micro-wave and the shocking cheese piled on every dish was too much. the owner who said that she was from Heidelberg in Melbourne and only came for the weekend spent a lot of time describing how her phlemn was clear now after being ill. this was while we were reading the menue. the garlic bread was soooo bad. Burnt and raw garlic on bread roll top bought from the local cheap bread shop. there is nothing athentic about this place except the decor which is authentic, kind of lovely but very, very dirty
