Very poor sound isolation, we had a drunk woman screaming and carrying on down stairs (I could hear her through my ear plugs). The lights outside lit up the room. Lots of wear and tear, even stains on things like couch and cushions. The balcony door handle was almost impossible to open. The bed was a very hard old spring mattress and the blankets were uncomfortable, this made for the poorest sleep we've had in a while. Incredibly underwhelming and disappointing.

You should also know the included breakfast is a small box with a packet of cereal, UHT milk, muesli bar, orange juice fruit box and a paper thin plastic container type bowl and wooden spoon.

No guest book or further information on the local area.

Spa was ok, but the shower is also in the spa and the water management seemed to be an after thought.

Not suitable for anyone who can't walk up stairs or carry their own luggage up stairs.

We got the deluxe spa suite thankfully for only one night. If you like to get what you paid for... I don't recommend it.

Just came back from a 3 night trip to Daylesford. We got a last minute booking at the Royal for a reasonable price inc. Breakfast box. The Royal is located in a fabulous position right in the town, shops/restaurants/bars all in walking distance and if you don't want to leave your accommodation you can eat at the pub. Rooms were nice and clean and ours had a door to the balcony which was great as we sat outside each afternoon/evening at the table provided and watched the world go by. Staff at the hotel were all lovely and very accommodating. Car parking is provided on site, very handy.
Downside of our stay was the traffic noise. As the hotel is right on the roundabout, the road which leads to Ballarat it is extremely busy with cars and particularly semi trailers which went through the night. I've never had a more restless sleep, woke up feeling exhausted each morning. If you're going to stay here bring your ear plugs. Only given 3 stars because of the noise.

The Royal Dalesford is conveniently located in the vicinity of a wide range of restaurants, cafes and shopping. There is even a Coles within walking distance if you need to hop across to grab some snacks. The rooms are spacious, clean and seem recently renovated too. Only issue we found was squeaky noises when people walk by in the corridor and you can sometimes hear noises coming from other rooms, but I guess that is part of being an older hotel. Service was friendly and personal, which made our stay all the more enjoyable. Room also came with a simple breakfast box, which was great because that means we could save much time for visiting rather than looking for breakfast.

Excellent warm light clean spacious accommodation. Not terribly quiet but not too bad. Loved Daylesford and the Royal is very central. Staff very friendly and helpful, parking internal courtyard, wifi good, plenty of food and drink options on-site or very close by. If mobility an issue, there are stairs and long uneven floored not well lit corridors and fire escapes.

Have eaten here A LOT. We are locals. Terrible meal tonight. The steak was okay but the vegetables were stone cold and soggy. When I complained they took my food away. Didn’t hear anything back until maybe 10 minutes later (my partner had finished his medal). Same piece of meat that was now well done versus medium and new vegetables. No compensation, communication or apology. Won’t be going back Not a cheap meal!
