Lovely guest house with very comfy beds and an amazing breakfast. The owners went out of their way to prepare something special for my husband's bday: they even left us a bottle of bubbly and a cupcake with a candle in the room upon our arrival: so nice! The guest house prepares an afternoon tea with fresh scones & homemade fruit jams (and other goodies) which is included in the room price. Definitely recommended! Also very close to the glow worm glen which is just down the road and visible after dark. The guest house owners even provided flashlights for the walk and some sherry upon our return. Awesome experience!

On arrival we were warmly greeted by the owners, Karin and Harry and shown around the guesthouse. We had booked in for the weekend and were looking forward to some quiet time to ourselves.
We stayed in one of the spa suites which was comfortable with a four poster bed and large bathroom with a two person corner spa bath.
Afternoon tea on Saturday was served in the sitting room and was truly an eye to behold - yummy scones with home made jam and cream, freshly baked cakes, friands and even little cucumber scones!
Breakfast each morning was certainly plentiful - a buffet of cereals, fresh fruit and a fruit compote and a selection of breads and home made jams. Then pancakes with maple syrup. We had scrambled eggs on the Saturday morning and yummy Eggs Benedict on the Sunday morning. Both were served with bacon, sausages, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms. Certainly no need for lunch on either day!!!
We really enjoyed our stay at Tree Tops Guesthouse and will definitely stay there again on our next visit to the highlands.

Having paid $275 for a one night stay at Treetops, described in our booking confirmation as a "luxury spa suite, sumptuous afternoon tea and a full country breakfast" the reality fell quite a bit short of the expectation.

On arrival we were met by Harry, a pleasant enough person, who then handed us over to (presumably ) his wife, who failed to introduce herself and appeared to be preoccupied and provided only a rushed introduction to the house. Certainly no gracious welcome.

Afternoon tea was provided in the tariff, and was ordinary to say the least, with some of the worst scones I have experienced.

The room itself, described as a luxury spa suite, was very much on the cramped side, with no wardrobe - only an exposed hanging rack, with spare pillows and blankets in the basket underneath.

The place was generally noisy, with squeaky doors and footsteps throughout the night. For train lovers the location is ideal, being just across the road from the main southern line.

Breakfast, which started with cereal, fruit juices, tea/coffee and pancakes, was presumably cooked by the same person who prepared the afternoon tea and was hardly 'full' in regards to being large. The single piece of bacon was cooked to a leathery hardness, with a passable egg benedict and a tasty, but extremely small sausage and small serving of mushrooms. No choice was offered.

The grounds were largely unkempt, with the path to our private entrance door quite overgrown and the front verandah appearing not to have been swept in ages.

Check out time was 10am, which meant no sleep-in, relaxed breakfast and unhurried departure.

If the price was halved it may have been acceptable and rated higher, but for $275 it failed on pretty well every account and was therefore rated as terrible.
