The Bundanoon Guest House
Ranked #3 of 4 Bundanoon B&B and Inns
Reviewed March 19, 2012

This B&B is a great weekend (or longer) country retreat. We were warmly met at the door by Harry and his Wife Karin, shown to our suite which had a 4 poster bed and a 2 seater corner spa bath, very nice. Afternoon Tea was home made scones, jam & fresh cream, so much nicer than any I have made, also some fresh biscuits from the oven. We choose the option to have dinner here also and it was fantastic. Antipasto platter for appetiser, Chorizo quiche for entree, Eye Fillet steak for main and a chocolate pudding thing for dessert, all cooked and presented perfectly. You bring your own wine and do not have to worry about driving home afterwards, only a short stroll down the hall. Breakfast was another great feast with so many choices; cereals, breads, muffins, an assortment of jams etc, fruits, then the good stuff, fresh pancakes with butter & syrup, followed by eggs (scrambled or poached) bacon, sausage, cooked tomato and mushrooms. So much food you won't be wanting lunch! Harry & Karin are happy to spend time with you and help you find activities you might enjoy on your stay, which markets have what type of shopping options, local wineries, tourist spots to visit (the Glow worm caves are just around the corner)! Very enjoyable stay, would highly recommend it and would happily return and stay again.

Room Tip: Choose the option to stay for dinner, you will not regret it!

I recently stayed at Treeptops for two nights with my mother. Harry & Karin were the perfect hosts and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Although the property is older (which added to its charm), we felt extremely at home for the duration of our trip. The bathrooms weren't any smaller than you would get at an average hotel, and although the property is located directly across from railway tracks the trains were not distracting in any way. The food provided for breakfast and afternoon tea was to die for and we were disappointed we missed out on dinner at the property due to locals booking out the restaurant! Overall it was a very enjoyable experience and we hope to visit there again.

This was our third visit to Treetops, but the first for Christmas in July. Karin and Harry are truly wonderful hosts, who go out of their way to make your stay special. The guesthouse is circa 1910s and like anyone 100 years old it has its creaks, but that is part of the character of the place. Karin's food is delicious. Canapes and sherry to start, then a three course meal, and port and chocolates to finish, and that was Friday night. Saturday's afternoon tea was plentiful and Karin's scones are delicious. The Christmas in July dinner was glorious. A secret - the locals turned up - they know how good it is.

Had such a great time with my husband that we cane back here with 3 other couples. The beauty of a Guesthouse such as Treetops is that we were able to enjoy all the socialising and fabulous food without all the effort at our own house. Loved sitting in one of the cosy lounge rooms with the roaring fire and enjoying one too many wines which we had brought with us. The food was again one of the highlights of the trip and we all rolled home the next day hopefully to return again! Also slept like a baby in the comfy beds with the electric blankets - nothing at all to do with the wine!
We did not stay in the Spa room this time as we spent most of the time in the entertaining rooms with our friends. The bedrooms are not large and the bathrooms are small but fine. Would recommend staying in one of the Spa Rooms if going with significant other, but the other rooms are perfectly adequate if going with a group of friends.

I have just returned from a delightful weekend away staying at Tree Tops Guesthouse. My husband and I arrived to this quaint guesthouse and were greeted by two very welcoming hosts. Karin showed us around the guesthouse and we were taken to our room. The rooms were neatly presented and comfortable. The bathrooms, though small, were clean and adequate.
The lounge room was warm and inviting, a roaring fire and an afternoon tea to die for awaited us as we came through from our room.
We had one dinner while we stayed with our hosts. I could not fault it.
Breakfast on both mornings was beautiful; a huge range of food, we were left full until late in the day.
We enjoyed our stay at Tree Tops and had a fabulous time away visiting the local wineries and sitting by the fire reading. A great break from the routine.

I feel quite bad writing this review.... as I've never written a bad review before, but I was extremely disappointed with this place.

The owners are lovely, and the breakfast was good. They've got a great idea and lots of potential. But, the downfall was, in a nut-shell:

- The room was so dusty neither of us could breathe, and I got bad asthma from it, along with a terrible allergic reaction;
- The bathroom was mouldy, both on the roof and the walls (I could actually see it through the wall-paper);
- I am a very petite person and I had trouble fitting in the shower; my partner had to squeeze himself in sideways.. there were also old hairs and spiders floating around;
- There was no curtain on the bathroom window, which was situated next to the toilet. I had to go to the loo, and shower, in the dark, to avoid being seen;
- The floor and doors are so squeaky that everytime another guest opened a door or walked down the hallway it woke both of us up;
- I'm fairly certain that everyone has the same room key (the key provided to everyone opens the front/back doors to the house, and their room), which didn't make me feel very confident in their security;
- I knew there was no tv, but with all the problems above, it would have been a nice distraction!
- Breakfast, although great, is only available between 8.30 and 9.30am. Which isn't really suitable for early risers, or sleeper-iners!

We ended up leaving early, because we couldn't spend another night in the dusty room. It's such a shame because it's a beautiful place, and the owners are lovely and work really hard - some money just needs to be put into cleaning up and maintaining it. Sorry!

Thank you for your review. Obviously we were unhappy to read that you found your experience staying at Tree Tops Guesthouse disappointing.
Our guests should be made to feel comfortable and safe within our guesthouse, and need not worry about the keys - each room only has one key to open it - we specially had them cut to enable guests to open the front and back doors with the same key. They cannot open any of the other rooms.
Tree Tops is a circa 1910 guesthouse, and the bathrooms were installed in the late 60's. Prior to this no doubt there were common ablutions as was costomary then. We recongnize this and it is a priority to upgrade all our bathrooms, half of which we have already done. Most of our bathrooms have lead light windows, making it impossible to look into the room from outside. In addition, there are lace curtains in all the bathrooms.
We appreciate your comment in regards to our breakfast times, and have extended this service from 8-10a.m
Tree Tops experience is a step back in time to the grand era of Australian guesthouses, and we want your experience to be warm and hospitable, affordable and memorable and we will continue to strive to make this so. We hope that you are able to revisit our village and leave with better memories than you have on this occasion.

Lovely guest house with very comfy beds and an amazing breakfast. The owners went out of their way to prepare something special for my husband's bday: they even left us a bottle of bubbly and a cupcake with a candle in the room upon our arrival: so nice! The guest house prepares an afternoon tea with fresh scones & homemade fruit jams (and other goodies) which is included in the room price. Definitely recommended! Also very close to the glow worm glen which is just down the road and visible after dark. The guest house owners even provided flashlights for the walk and some sherry upon our return. Awesome experience!
