One of the finest meals that I've ever eaten in and that includes ones in the NE US. Steak tender, sauce superb, apps wonderful - fish fantastic, prices reasonable and variety excellent. Courtyard seating before hand enchanting envirnoment. I would recommend going during daylight hours to enjoy the courtyard and the surrounding town.

We read about this restaurant in the town of San German in a guide book and were staying Ponce in the south of Puerto Rico.
The restaurant itself is easy to find - right on the way into the town. It was Sunday so that they were offering a Brunch. We found it to be perhaps the finest culinary experience of our visit to Puerto Rico, a great surprise and utterly charming. The chef takes great pride in all the ingredients that he creates himself. the service was immaculate - all contributing to a great treat! Don't miss it.

RESTAURANTE L'AUXERRE by Chef Pierre P. Saussy was recommended as a must-do in Puerto Rico by Chef Cesar Ramirez of Brooklyn Fare fame. Both Cesar and Saussy are ex-David Bouley protégés.

Let’s start with location, location, location… the town of San German Puerto Rico is a postcard of a small village in France, the restaurant itself is a beautiful house with a courtyard where you can eat, a bar in what looks like a barn area, and a very cozy dining room inside.

Although they were serving a wedding party that night in the courtyard, our service was diligent and friendly (especially our waiter from California), the staff could do a better job explaining the wonderful dishes the chef concocted for the evening.

The food was amazing!! I would recommend everything we ate but the menu changes every day. We would have liked more choices for dessert but due to the wedding, they only had one to offer (no, it was not the wedding cake).

This was a NY Times three star meal at …wait for it… the best value in all of Puerto Rico. It was well worth the trip from the metropolitan area of San Juan.

The trip: it is two hours from San Juan, but if you make it a day trip with a stop in Ponce, it does not feel that long. While in Ponce, visit the town square and don’t miss the Museo de Arte de Ponce (another must do in PR), now you are only 38 minutes from the town of San German, arrive early enough to see the town and then relax and enjoy a great evening of culinary pleasures, good wine and conversations.

Buen provecho!

It was recommended by a friend. I decided take my family there. I don't know if they don't have enough personnel but;
- we waited 1 hr for the appetizers
- waited more than2 hrs for the main course
- the food was bad and cold
- there were other people around that experience the same as we.
It was my restaurant nightmare ever....

Lovely ambience in the courtyard of an old house, and the food is really good. The cuttle-fish was top-notch, though when I asked the waiter if it was fresh he said yes - to my surprise, since Puerto Rico is not known for its cuttle-fish. If the waiters were a little more informed that would go a long way.
