We stayed in the Premier Inn next door, booked a table for the first night, shown to our table and left........eventually my husband went to the bar ordered drinks and asked if we had to order our own food! We were then shown the menu by a very unsmiling waitress, the food when it came was good and hot. The second night service was better and again the food was good.

We were staying at the next door Premier Inn and they arranged a booking for our first evening for 7.15. It was fathers day and of course they were busy but having taken us to our table they left us there unattended and with no offer of drinks or menu. After 15 or 20 minutes of no-one coming near us another waiter brought a couple to the next table and immediately started asking if they wanted drinks and started to explain the menu. She then noticed us and asked if we were ready to order. When we pointed out that we had not had a menu she pointed at a 'special' fathers day menu that she said was all they had on offer and was a lot less than the full menu we had seen in our hotel room. We went to the Prezzo in town and had a great meal (incidentally just after we started we noticed the other couple coming in and clearly they had been equally unimpressed. We also declined to have breakfast in the pub and enjoyed and egg and bacon McMuffin you know where. Are we mad - you bet we are.

This is a very laid back style restaurant in the mould of its chain.
Food is excellent and not pricey!!
Would eat there more often except that the Shipley Bridge is nearer!!

Nothing good to say about this pub. We often stay at the Premier travel Inn next door & we don't really want to drive to find a meal, we have unfortunately tried this pub a few times (only as a captive audience). It has become worse this year -which we didn't believe possible. The pub itself is tired and unwelcoming. The majority of the staff cannot be bothered. We didn't get a warm welcome from the manager - despite it being written on board outside. The serving staff haven't got a clue about the menu. Didn't tell us about specials, didn't know what the soup of the day was. We ordered drinks via our waitress, had to go to collect them from the bar ourselves - as they were just left sitting there once poured out. It wasn't even busy- probably only 5 tables occupied. Our very unpleasant, unhelpful waitress - pulled faces - when we turned down our extra bread ordered with the starter - it didn't arrive until 10 minutes after we had eaten our starter. It looked as though she passed our table on to another waitress after that - who seemed to be trying to also deal with an elderly couple complaining about their food. Think she was doing her best. The first one should not be let loose with customers - everything was too much trouble for her. The 2nd night of our visit - we regrettably decided to eat there again, our waitress was definitely better & seemed more experienced. When our starter of the mushroom soup eventually arrived - it was just lukewarm & revolting - sent it back. the waitress organised a replacement starter - & didn't charge us which was the right thing. The main course failed to arrive. After asking 3 times & assured it would just be a couple of minutes - we walked out & left payment on the table. The wait for the meals is totally unacceptable. It wasn't even very busy & the food definitely is not worth the wait. The glasses looked dirty on both evenings & had to change our glasses - did that ourselves by walking to the bar - as no waitress around to tell. Really Chef & Brewer - you have got to do something about this pub. It should be busy - prime location & next door to the Premier Inn.

Four weeks ago we went for Friday lunch; hey is the Pope a Catholic? Do bears delicate in the woods? Fish and Chips going to be a big menu item?

OK so we order fish and chips only to be told that they'd run out of chips. the delivery lorry had broken down! I mean there are two supermarkets close at hand, did no one have the wit (or wisdom) to pop out and buy some? Or even some raw potatoes and just 'chip' them?

A week ago we decide to forgive and pop in for Sunday Lunch. Order same only to be told that they're out of roast potatoes. At least there was no excuses about late deliveries but one must assume that someone had got their orders wrong.
