“This must be the best 4 star in the UK!”
Reviewed October 22, 2011

This hotel is unpretentious with friendly helpful staff and nice lay out. We had just come from a supposed 5 star which was hugely disappointing in many ways and it was reassuring to have such a positive experience on the 3rd day of our travels around south England. I had a fabulous pedi with Megan at the Spa and even had a hand massage while we waited for the heated booties only feet to work their magic. The food in the brasserie Reflections was reasonably good too although we kept it simple with a burger and chips. The spa area is very relaxing with dimly lit soft ambience and two whirlpools with huge pool. If there is one negative it is just that the changing areas and spa area could have been quite a bit cleaner especially given the standards in the rest of the hotel.

Finally for those who consider sleep quality to be the most important thing in a hotel it was first rate here- warm fluffy duvets and soft clean linen and every detail in the room felt new and modern. Strongly recommend this and if sleep is important just add a quiet room request in the reservation. Staff really try to accommodate always...

Room Tip: Request a quiet room if sleep is important

We stayed for 1 night in a suite in the old part of the building and from the moment we arrived until it was time to leave the service was excellent. The room was beautifully furnished and we were very well looked after throughout our stay. The following morning we indulged in the spa with a massage which was a great stress buster and highly recommended. The restaurant was great and nicely informal. Looking forward to staying there again!

We've stayed here a couple of times and love it. It's a great relaxing treat. The food is amazing and we go for couples treatments, swims in the pool and outdoor hot pools.. all wonderfully relaxing.

The rooms are lovely - elegant décor, comfy beds, luxurious bathrooms..

Again we love it and are planning our next trip

Yes,ok, a hotel and wellness centre in a beautiful landscape.
Nice room. But nothing special or extra which makes it unforgettable.
I missed music in the room, a minibar with more than two bottles of water,a soundproof door,a luxury breakfast,a concerned staff.
So overpriced.

Came for a work conference and enjoyed my stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the bathroom had a huge tub. Nice food at the restaurant and had a lovely massage in the spa.
Beautiful building and great breakfast.

We were absolutely astounded by the scenery and the building itself on arrival, the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We arrived earlier than expected but were allowed to use the spa facilities straight away which was great, the pool and jacuzzi are amazing, you cant help but relax as soon as you get in.
We had a back neck and shoulder massage (25mins) and a facial (25mins) which were also perfect (would have liked longer but the prices are quite high for the treatments). Dinner was included in our package so we ate in the reflections restaurant, the atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely, really relaxing, not to posh so you feel uncomfortable but definately to a high standard. The meal was lovely and staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was above the spa and i would highly recommend these, it was gorgeous, lovely view out to the fields and we had the outside jacuzzi below. The rooms have lovely sash windows and have been recently redecorated, was quite disappointed we didnt get time to lounge in the bath because it looked extremely inviting! We had breakfast delivered to our room and woke up slightly earlier than expected but they were quite happy to deliver it to us earlier than we had originally asked for. The breakfast was huge! We had enough left over to feed another 3 people at least and it was gorgeous.
All in all we were very sad that we had only booked one night and can't wait to return for a longer stay and more relaxing treatments.

Room Tip: We stayed in spa rooms (above the spa), it was gorgeous! This is the newer part of the hotel though...

This place just gets better, stayed here a few times now as its so close to my home in Brighton and feels like a real countryside retreat.

Spa treatments are always excellent, the spa itself is very luxurious so its worth spending some time there pre and post treatments!

The grill and reflections both do great food in beautiful surroundings. Weekday lunch with the girls, romantic meals with the husband, sunday lunch with the inlaws - all have been faultless! The kitchen really delivers and the service is subtly efficient.

Highlights for me include the outdoor hot-tub, the old school glamour of the lobby and dining room, the roll top baths and huge plasmas in the bedrooms and Alexander House' greatest asset - its staff!
