A good location for walking the South Downs. Our room was a bit too small but had all the amenities needed for a couple of days stay, was clean and well decorated. The staff were very helpful and cheerful and gave advice on walking routes and places to go. The evening food was good and the breakfast excellent.

Stopped here for an impromptu lunch, the staff were really friendly and welcoming.
The chef here made a seafood chowder to die for!!! (the best I have tasted either side of the Atlantic!! ) there was also home made artisan bread of a high quality . This was paired with excellently kept Harveys ales and good wine.
The Chef (unusually) appeared out in the restaurant taking a keen interest in proceedings and was really focused on customers enjoying their experience.
Came here by chance and we will definitely return to sample some more of the menu , Thanks to all we will be back soon!!!!

The outside of this pub is very attractive, the wrought iron sign is brilliant and on two occasions I have dared to eat here (both over a year ago now) but each time found the food quite dreadful. Last time I was in (January 2013) they appeared to have done up one dining room. However, having tasted a pint of their ale (a brew I normally like but seemed to be well past its best here) we decided not to risk another disappointment and thus didn't test the food.

Ate here in the past and it was awful, had been told under new management and that food had improved. Thought we'd give it another try and have now eaten there twice, the food was great, melt in the mouth fresh lamb with perfectly cooked vegetables, not the cheapest place to eat but in my opinion it is still value for money. You really get what you pay for!!! Looking forward to my next meal here.
