This hotel is a little gem! It is in the high street of a very pretty village and offers a genuinely warm welcome. The rooms are quirky but large, clean and with character. The pub is very typical of a rural village. The restaurant standard was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course meal.

We are an organisation that have a Christmas Dinner for about 30plus people every year. AT LAST we have found a place that we will stay with forever. From the very start everyone went over the top to be friendly and helpful. We were late starting dinner but no one complained and the freshly cooked food was hot and delicious. I have never seen such clean plates in all the years I have organised this meal. Cannot praise the staff, atmosphere and food enough. Sorry for the late review.

Room Tip: We did not stay so cannot help

We booked to stay here as we were attending a funeral in the area, we stayed two nights and were very happy with our room & facilities and all were spotlessly clean. We arrived quite late on the first evening, but it was no trouble for them to serve us a delicious & warming home made cottage pie meal. There was a choice of real ales, lagers & various wines at the bar. All the meals we had (including the breakfasts) were excellent and freshly cooked with many options to choose from. The staff were friendly and helpful and the enthusiastic chef came round himself to check that all was ok with each meal we had. It was a real pleasure to stay in such a lovely traditional Olde English pub that possessed a great atmosphere, Steve the owner also knew a great deal about the history of the area & the castle ruins nearby, which is helpful if you fancy exploring. We will definitely revisit this excellent establishment again!

Late review but wanted to acknowledge how much we enjoyed our stay here. As others have said we also came on Groupon offer but were pleasantly surprised by the charming character of the place, friendly staff, unexpectedly great food... The rooms were comfortable & clean but as others say need updating however the positive tone of most reviews reflect how we feel that you are on the right track doing what you do well and therefore don't be hasty in upgrading rooms at the expense of other things you do so well.

The Castle Inn is a great old English Pub with great food and a lovely atmosphere. My family and I stayed for the weekend for my sister's wedding and Steve and Mae the owners where absolutely brilliant and could not do enough for us all. The rooms were spotless and had very comfy beds and crisp white linen. The breakfasts where really good and the dining room is gorgeous with exposed bricks and stripped floors and fresh flowers and candles. The village is really pretty too.

Our son and daughter in law recently had their wedding reception at the Castle Inn and what a wonderful choice of location and venue. Several of us had a two night stay and we couldn’t fault the service provided. Steve and Mae gave us a wonderful welcome and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. All the bedrooms were different and maybe some were in need of a little upgrading but they were full of character, very clean and comfortable. The bar food and breakfast were excellent in choice, quality, quantity and value for money and the wedding buffet was absolutely first class. - well done Chef and a big thank you to all the staff for making the occasion so enjoyable and memorable.

We came on the sunday night special, it was excellent value for money the food was really good (again). Our room was nice and big quite basic but fine for the money, the only down point really was that we could'nt turn our heating down and spent the night too hot to get a good sleep. The plumber was there in the morning though so this has probably be sorted out by now. The breakfast was lovely and really filling. We would definately stay here again : )
