Have visited The Butchers Arms many times - the welcome is usually friendly and it's nice to be able to sit in the restaurant side to eat which is a bit quieter than the bar side where you can sit and drink / play skittles (or eat if you like). I like the fact they light candles on the tables in the evenings which makes it feel cosy.
Fish night is good value (the fish is the best I have ever had!) and the carvery is always very tasty but some of the dishes do seem to be getting a bit expensive i.e. £11.95 for a chicken and bacon salad is way too much in my book and if it were a little cheaper we'd be more included to pop in for lunch. It's also a shame they don't offer a dessert menu, just the frozen indian types ones, although they occasionally have a home-made dessert on the specials board it would be better if these were available all the time.
