The farm on which the cottage is situated is also a livery yard and was ideal for me as I love horses. Jackie, the owner was happy for me to wander in and out of the stables to give mint treats.
The one bed cottage, though modern, has a lovely cosy feel to it and has everything you might need for a week's stay, There is plenty of space for two people, with a well equipped kitchen area, including an efficient washing machine, which you might think isn't necessary for a holiday, but for us was essential as we travelled in a small car which limited the amount of clothes we could bring for the week.
The location is ideal to visit the North Yorkshire Moors, and the coast, with Thirsk on the doorstep for essential shopping. There are lots of pubs that offer good food in surrounding villages, though not within walking distance, but we generally stopped off for a meal on the way back from a day's walking and then had a drink when we got back to the cottage.
We drove to Pickering one day and had a great trip on the North Yorks Steam railway to Whitby.
All in all we had a lovely stay and will definitely visit again.
