We have had a lovely quiet break. Myself and my husband (both over 65) have enjoyed our stay!
There is plenty to do around the area and lots of places to eat out.
The cottage was lovely and clean had all the essentials we needed. Easy to find and we had a lovely stay. Duck Cottage comes highly recommended!

“wondeful ambience”

great little cottage right in the center of Thirsk, but hidden away down a lovely little mew....lots of space for a small cottage and very nice, perfectly fitted kitchen kitchen. Peaceful and comfortable bedrooms and everything was spotlessly clean and worked perfectly. With so much to see and do around Thirsk, it was so nice to come home to after our long days out.

Ideal venue for touring North Yorkshire.
Lovely old cottage, beautifully renovated and furnished to a good standard.
Must visit ''Little 3'' pub just round corner for real ales and good food.
Overall a most enjoyable experience and hope to repeat in the future.

“Delightful Cottage, Wonderful Stay”
Reviewed July 9, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

My husband and I just stayed at duck cottage for six nights with our 18 month old daughter. We could not have asked for a more charming place to lay our heads. Duck cottage is downright adorable. Comfortable, clean, in excellent condition, tastefully decorated, and stocked very well with all the comforts of home - and even a few essesntial provisions to get you started. It is conveniently situated right near the bustling town square of Thirsk. You can be at any number of coffee shops or cafes in under a minute. Travelling with a youngster we especially appreciated the travel cot and high chair provided, (both in excellent condition) as well as the wooden train set.

Thirsk is the perfect place to base yourself for visiting the Moors, the Dales, the seaside and of course the city of York. And in Thirsk there could be no better spot than this!

Hi Samantha. Thank you for your lovely review. It is a great delight to us that so many people are enjoying our cottage. The wooden train set was used by our own children many years ago and it is wonderful to know that other children are having fun with it again. Regards Amanda & Jeff

“Delightful cottage in fabulous location”

My husband and I stayed at Duck Cottage with our one year old son and couldn't fault it! The instructions we received from the cottage owner were thorough and getting into the cottage was so straightforward - fantastic.

The cottage is really charming - whilst small it has everything you could possibly need for your stay and a bit more! We were grateful for the cot and highchair as it saved us bringing our own. Our son loved playing with the train track that was in the cottage and we all enjoyed some of the board games.

The cottage is well located - seconds from the attractions of Thirsk. It was actually too near to local restaurants/ takeaways as it meant we ate out far too much! The views out the lounge/ bedroom windows of the ducks were really special - wish I could wake to that every day.

Overall we had a superb break and hope to return to Duck Cottage again very soon! The only thing that I would have liked would be wifi, although there was a good 4G signal so it wasn't a huge issue.

Fab cottage - I recommend it!

Hi Laura. Thank you such an encouraging review. I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your comment about wifi. We have actually deliberately chosen not to have this as we wanted the cottage to be a peaceful refuge. However, maybe it is something that we need to consider as a number of people have suggested it.

As a female solo traveller I was looking for a cottage that was comfortable, modern, close to cafes and small shops and I felt safe in on my own. Duck cottage fitted my needs perfectly. It is situated in a great location literally a few steps from the cafes, shops and pubs of Thirsk but as it is facing a river with ducks and is set in a courtyard it feels special. The cottage is tastefully decorated with everything that you may need and feels very cosy and homely. The milk and wine left by the owners was a nice touch and went down a treat! The cottage is located centrally for many parts of Yorkshire, with Thirsk train station being just over 5 minutes drive away and York being a short train journey away. I would recommend the cottage for anybody looking for a relaxing holiday with great access to local amenities.

Duck Cottage is lovely & cosy & beautifully decorated & furnished throughout. It is situated in a lovely position and is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas. There are plenty of shops, tea rooms & places to eat out at night. We visited the James Herriott museum (which is two minutes away from the cottage). We were really pleased with the cottage and will definitely return in the future. Choose Duck cottage!
