“Panoramic views worth the walk”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

On a clear day you can see for miles, if you go on a weekend and the gliders are in action it is quite a sight

“Good walk & views”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

The steep climb up the steps is well worth the view you get at the top. Be sure to wear flat shoes / walking boots.

“The best of great british views!”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

Parked at the carpark by the visitor centre (which is pay and display - but reasonable as everything else is free). Started at the visitor centre which gave an overview of the geology and history of the area (with a few interactive computer screens to keep the younger ones entertained). Then decided to walk along the high ridge towards the White Horse, which also takes you alongside an airstrip / gliding club (it was great fun watching them take off so close to you - can imagine the views from above would have been fantastic if I was brave enough as pleasure flights were available). Word of caution - take care crossing the busy road! Got to the White Horse but have to say the views from above were not the best, so walked down the steps (lost count after about 97!) to view from the bottom carpark. The ice cream van at the bottom was also a welcome sight! After a welcome watering we headed back to the visitor centre via a route that took us through the woods. The circular route is perhaps not for the unfit or infirm as there are a number of steps / steep climb (as I soon found out as I was panting half way back - although it was one of the hottest days of the year!). A quick drink and flapjack at the tearoom back at the visitor centre finished the afternoon off nicely. I have to say the walk afforded the opportunity to see some of the most amazing views this country has to offer - stunning. Well worth the effort!

Great views over the majestic English countryside below. Best enjoyed close to sunset due to spectacular lighting. The white horse: meh.
