Along with my wife we had sunday lunch at the lord nelson it was good value for the prices ,
a large portion costs £8 plus and a medium portion cost £6 plus I had the large and my sensible other half had the medium which was ample .you got a large yorkshire with the usual meats and greens etc , but no peas had cabbage for a change , Its well worth a visit nothing out of the ordinary but good value.

We had an exceptionally warm welcome at this pub when we called in for an evening meal. It is situated just off the main market place area, in a quiet and pretty location. The dining area had comfortable seating, and was prepared with cutlery and condiments on tables. We ordered a gammon steak, chips etc and a chicken and mushroom pie, which was home made. Both meals were delicious, arrived in a timely way, and were excellent value. We wish we had found this pub on the first night of our stay and not the last as we would definietely have eaten here again.

Having enjoyed some good meals here I was very disappointed to find standards have more than slipped....badly. Hubby & I had been looking forward to our return meal but were served not the lovely home cooked meals as previously, but what seemed cheap frozen fare. Hubby said his 'scampi' tasted odd and he questioned the quality deciding it was along the lines of a packet for a pound buy. I had a burger which was nice, but the chips with both meals were undercooked and the coleslaw that came with the burger was horrid. Cheap and nasty value style, the girl serving was the regular and she was lovely as ever so we pondered if the chef had changed or if they were cutting corners for financial reasons. Upshot is the food quality has dropped so drastically we won't go back. Such a shame.
