“Great place to stay for Newburgh Priory Wedding”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

We stayed at the tea rooms as a family of 5 adults for 2 nights when my nephew got married at nearby Newburgh Priory. We had an excellent weekend - the owners of the tea rooms were very welcoming and the rooms were well-equipped and comfortable (including hairdryers & tea-making facilities). Though the 3 rooms are not en-suite, the owners thoughtfully provide cosy bathrobes and everything feels very relaxed. The breakfasts were excellent, with fruit juice, cereals and yogurt as well as "full English" and plenty of toast. We got a lift to the wedding and walked the half-mile home so didn't need to rely on taxis. We had long journeys on Friday and Sunday so one regret is that we didn't have time to sit and have tea in the beautiful tea room gardens.

After looking for a location for afternoon tea, we came across Coxwold tea rooms. In a picturesque quiet village, it was just what myself and my partner were looking for. Initially we were the only guests there and after looking through the menu, decided on the full afternoon tea selection. The choice of sandwiches and cakes was fantastic and homemade of course, all great value for money. The service was perfect and very quick. Needless to say the food was beautiful. Definitely recommended!

A brief one night stay. Made very welcome in 300 year old property full of character. Enjoyed an excellent night's sleep in a well appointed, comfortable twin room. Good value for money and well worth visiting.

My partner and I stayed at the tearooms as we were going to a charity pantomine in the local pub! Having lived on the North Yorks Moors I know this area well.

Coxwold is undoubtably a beautiful village and the pub is excellent. There are many places to visit in and around the area and Coxwold itself has a lot of history. Once the home of Laurence Stern who wrote Tristram Shandy when he lived at Shandy Hall which is open to visitors. Alas the lovely Coxwold Pottery is no longer a working pottery. However, there is still some pottery there for sale.

This B & B/Tearooms is a 300 year old School house and has been tastefully decorated. We had a lovely room with a very comfortable bed. although not en-suite we did have our own shower room and there were bathrobes in our wardrobe for the short walk down the corridor. Tea/coffee making facilities in our room along with a t.v. Breakfast was lovely and the owners were very helpful and courteous.

Although Coxwold is only a 30 minute drive from where we live, we would definately consider a return visit.

Room Tip: Handy for the North Yorkshire Moors, Duncombe Park, Helmsley Castle, Thirsk Races, Newburgh Priory e...
