Description: The Moor & Pheasant Country Pub & Carvery is open Wednesday to Sunday. We serve great value traditional roasts, family favourites like Steak & Ale pie and veggie curries along with a great selection of desserts to tempt those of you with a sweet tooth. Mains are all just £8.95 (Children's Portions £4.95), desserts are just £2.95, and we've a great value wine list to match so you can treat the whole family without breaking the bank! There's no need to make a reservation, however if you are planning to come with a larger group (above 6) it might be a good idea to call ahead so we can get a table ready for you. We always try to cater for those with allergies, however it is much easier if you can let us know before you visit as that gives us a chance to prepare something special!

“Off day......?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2012

We had an evening meal here recently and either previous reviewers have very low standards when it comes to eating out (which I feel is probably not the case) or the chef was having a very off day! Nothing we had impressed us, even the wine selected there was 'none left'. Starters of 1) scallops was almost non existent - 3 of the tiniest scallops I have ever seen totally overpowered by cheese and garlic butter at a price way above it's worth, gone in two mouthfuls and 2) gougons of goats cheese which my husband said were OK despite the fact they both smelled and tasted strongly of fish, obviously having been cooked in dirty/well used oil. Mains were only OK - my chips had the same 'off' taste of having been cooked in the well used oil again, not good at all. We didn't go here expecting fine dining but we did expect good quality pub food and that was not achieved. We went on the strength of trip advisor comments, which are usually fairly accurate, but maybe we hit a bad day; whatever the reason we won't be going back in any rush.........restaurants cannot, in this day and age, afford to have bad days, we are fed up with food establishments which fall short of the mark.

“Superb”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

We visited the Moor and pheasant on a quiet afternoon, we entered through the front door and no one was there to greet us. After about five minuets someone found us and showed us our table. We chose our food from a wide variety of seasonal local produce. There was only one waitress serving in the bar and restaurant and as we were the only people in, service was slow. Food was excellent, however my daughters fish was too dry. They apologised fully for this and grave s a refund. Apart from these minor disadvantage the food was excellent, and good value for money.

I can only apologise for the service being slow and assure you this will not happen again.

“Better than average pub food and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012 via mobile

There is a plethora of top end eateries in the area as well as 'massive plateful' pubs, but very few establishments seem to cater for somewhere in the middle. This is where the M&P sits perfectly. It serves better than average pub food and the portion size is ideal, allowing me room to manage three courses. I had the trio of pork for my main which I can highly recommend. The creme brûlée was very good too.
The pub has been beautifully renovated and offers plenty of atmosphere. My only gripe is we all fancied coffee after we had finished our puds but no one came to clear the table or ask if we wanted anything else. As a result we had further drinks elsewhere and the M&P missed out on some extra revenue from coffees and digestivs.
