“Outstanding B and B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013

It doesn't surprise me that Meadowcroft is rated No.1 in Thirsk. It is a very pleasant and comfortable place to stay with welcoming and helpful hosts. The cooked breakfast is extremely tasty and the Skeldale bedroom is excelllent, with a most comfortable bed that guarantees a good night's sleep. This is a very good base for exploring a most interesting and attractive town.

Room Tip: Skeldale was very pleasant and comfortable.

Thanks for your great review of Meadowcroft - we're so glad you enjoyed staying in our 'Skeldale' room, 'Skeldale' is our newest room and named after the Alf Wights' (AKA James Herriot) Vetinary Practice, although its a double and smaller than the Superkings - we have tried to ensure that the room is comfortable with quality fittings. I do agree that we are well placed in Thirsk for exploring this lovely part of North Yorks - we are right between the Dales and Moors and only 30mins by car from York. We hope to see you again at Meadowcroft - and maybe for another music event at Rural Arts/The Courthouse??

Superb Bed and Breakfast, lovely room, huge bed and gorgeous bedding. The breakfast was first class, as were our hosts Sue and Simon. Thanks for the homemade biscuits the lavender ones were delicious.

Brilliant review - Thank you both so much - we're really glad you liked the our 'Wharfedale ' room - it is lovely and the bed is massive! So glad you enjoyed my homemade biscuits and as I mentioned you were our 'guinea pigs' for the lavender cookies - so happy they passed the taste test! We really hope to see you both again at Meadowcroft soon!

i have stayed at meadowcroft numerous times now and found myself more than welcome. Sue and Simon do a brilliant bed and breakfast, they are happy to help in any way they can, whether its sight seeing, evening plans or simply when and what you would like for breakfast, nothing is too much. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the beds are so great you may not want to leave it. Thanks again for another great stay and i will in no doubt be returning in the future!

I hav stayed at the Meadowcroft bed and breakfast for 2 months whilst working away from home. From the first day me and my colleague were made to feel really welcomed with the owners offering plenty of help and advice about the local area, providing us with discount vouchers for some of the restaurants and directions for any place we would like I go.

The breakfast is excellent, we werr told we could have whatever we liked and it would be served at whatever time we would like it, we decided we both would like to eat at separate times and that was not a problem.

Also a great location 5 minutes walk to the suprisingly lively town of Thirsk

Overall I couldn't recomend it highly enough it has been fantastic staying at Meadowcroft.

Thanks for taking the time to write your review, its hard when you're working away from home for a long period and we're so glad we've made it a little easier for yourself and your colleague. We're always happy to help guests with directions - restaurants and general info -its what we're here for as far as we're concerned! Great to have feedback on our breakfasts - I do like to cater for individual tastes as far as possible. After all, happy customers come back to us - hope to see you return to Meadowcroft soon!

We stayed at Meadowcroft at a very cold time of the year and even braved a drive up on to the moors on our way back.
Arriving in freezing fog, we were welcomed into a warm and comfortable home by Sue and Simon.
Very comfortable rooms and a large bathroom.
Sue advised us on where to eat (and even arranged a discount at one local restaurant).
Lovely breakfast with home made vegetarian sausages (well done Sue).
Stay here. You won't regret it.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write us a review and for your kind words. We usually offer guests a restaurant booking service - as Thirsk is a market town there is a limit to places to eat and when its busy its hard to get in. The pubs and restaurants are happy for your custom and will generally offer a discount if we let them know you're with us. Glad you both enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again soon!

We spent two nights at Meadowcroft in the New Year, we were made very welcome by Sue and Simon, the house is set well off the road with a drive upto the front door, a real asset to my disabled husband, nothing was too much trouble, which included homemade vegetarian sausages for breakfast, delicious. The rooms are spacious and tastfully decorated with beds to match any 5star hotel, we anticpate returning in the summer with our two friends who will be on holiday from Australia, really looking forward to the return visit.

Thank you so much for your kind review, really glad you both enjoyed your stay with us in January. Its even better that you have booked to return with friends - and rest assured we'll make both them and you most welcome! It is an asset having such a large driveway with plenty of parking, we've found it particularly helpful when guests have a lot of luggage or as you point out - access issues. We're really looking forward to your return in June, fingers crossed for glorious sunshine, but whatever the weather - the welcome will be warm!!

We spent 2 very comfortable nights at Meadowcroft whilst visiting family in Thirsk.
Sue and Simon were very welcoming and genuinely friendly without ever being overly fussy.
We had a large, warm, comfortable and well-furnished room overlooking the front gardens with plenty of storage space and an ensuite shower room with plenty of towels.
Breakfasts were a treat - plenty of choice and beautifully cooked!

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Meadowcroft to anyone visiting the area and it will definitely be our first choice when we are next visiting Thirsk.

Thanks so much for your great review of Meadowcroft. You booked our Wharfedale room - which has a Superking bed with a wonderful Vi-Spring mattress and of course the easy chairs in the bay overlooking our rose garden - maybe next time you visit they'll be in bloom! So glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you both back to Thirsk on your next visit to see your family
