Situated in a small village a short drive from the station in Thirsk,North Yorkshire. This friendly pub with rooms also has excellent food with house party atmosphere.
The chef allows you to observe all the uncooked food in a chiller cabinet, and you make your own selection of main courses. Very flexible menu with small or large starters as you like. Efficient friendly staff and a delight to meet the chef who has excellent customer appeal. Choice of rooms in which to eat and a small dining area for small private parties or meetings. good selection of wines from Chile, Argentina, Italy France all the good stuff. Even a choice of ginger beers for those who are not using alcohol.
We heard from other diners that they have enjoyed the Sunday lunch which tastes home cooked with plenty of veg this is very popular and served most of the afternoon on Sundays.
Although this is a rather small village pub with little outside seating it has a unique feature in that the chef supports a village shop attached to the premises, with fresh and some prepared meals with tips on cooking from the chef. A surprise to find it.

We went to the restaurant as a group of six to have a Sunday Roast dinner together. The King’s Arms is a strange restaurant. The more I think about it, the harder it is to actually find anything to dislike. However, nothing about it really blew me away. It offered good traditional food, with good service, good choice and a good atmosphere. However, nothing was great, and given the location, building and constant stream of people turning up without reservations and hoping to get seated, it was a shame because it seems to have all the ingredients to be a knock out success.

It did leave me a bit disappointed because essentially, the meal was like one you could cook at home, but when you go out, you really want that little bit extra, which I feel was lacking. Such a shame!!!

This is a fab little pub, you won't eat better steaks. The staff are all very friendly and Alex the chef a down to earth no nonsense Yorkshire chap, who understands meat and will ensure that you do not leave disappointed. Nice to experience an eatery staffed by locals.

I had lunch here again today and as usual I was not disappointed. I had the most gorgeous omelette with hand cut chips with fresh crispy salad. My friend had the Mediterranean pancake with cheese and salad. The food here is always fresh, well cooked and presented beautifully. The young man behind the bar is helpful and pleasant. My one and only ‘ever ‘gripe today, is, he was polishing the brass and the smell of ‘brasso’ was quite strong and mixed with food smells it wasn’t good! But, I will as always look forward to my next visit while they serve such good quality food. The whole place is immaculate!

Had lunch here as was staying in the rooms at the pub over night due to going to a wedding locally.
The staff are so friendly and helpful and make you feel very welcome.
The lunch menu is very varied.
I had the Goats Cheese pancake and it was truly delicious.
Breakfast in the morning was also brilliant. Cannot recommended it enough.Just wish I lived closer so I could frequent it more. Will definitely stay/eat here again when I am next in the area.
