“Sunday tea time”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

As ever, too busy in garden to sort Sunday lunch, by the time it was time for lunch no one would have been open!
We'd been to the Jaipur Spice a couple of times when it had been at Ainderby Quernhow and thought, two birds, one stone, let's give it a go, opens at 5pm, time for a meal before I need to go to The Ritz Cinema.
Was waiting at the door as they opened, shades of a past life, was let in and seated, drinks and poppadoms proffered.
Pass on starters, not enough time, onto mains. I had South Indian Garlic, lady wife gave the Butter Chicken a go. Both excellent, as were the Garlic Nans, Rice and Sag Aloo.
Altogether an excellent experience, will go again when not so pushed for time.
Got fairly busy in the 1.5 hrs we were there, so seems popular.

“Masterclass!”
Reviewed July 2, 2013 via mobile

We visited Jaipur a fortnight ago. The beautiful flowers on the building caught our attention, very pretty! The restaurant was already quite busy as we got in, still got seated very quickly. The decor was very smart and clean. Service was spot on, very attentive but not intrusive as it can be in some indians. The food was master class, it was like eating back home in India. The owner seemed very proud of his restaurant and even brought us out some complimentary fresh mangos after our meal!
Its a shame we live so far away, but hopefully we will be back soon.

“Just absolutely right”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

Have been to this restaurant several times and never been let down. The staff are very friendly and efficient and the food wonderful. We usually go with friends and the 4 of us all try something different every time. Obviously some dishes we prefer to others but there has never been anything that we did not like at all. The staff have been knowledgeable about any of the dishes we have asked about, and have on occasions, suggested something that might be more to our taste and they have been spot on every time. The surroundings are very pleasant and the decor tastefully done, just a very nice place to relax and enjoy a lovely meal with family or friends would thoroughly recommend a visit

“Very very good”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

Visited last night with friends. Did not book and at 6.30 restaurant packed to capacity, but were able to get a table. Excellent service, although got the impression some had to wait quite some time, which is not surprising with the amount of customers. We were asked for our drink order immediately we had sat down, and asked if we wanted poppadoms. We were later asked if we wanted another drink, and felt overall considering how busy and also takeaway orders being dealt with, we had had had very good polite service. You just can't satisfy everyone, and there were some complaints from people who had had to wait for drinks etc., but as far as we were concerned it was all very good, and we will certainly return

“Friendly but busy and not yet efficient”
Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

Great stuff - the food was excellent, great flavours, nice and spicy and the menu had a wide variety. Prices were very reasonable and the restaurant was clean and tastefully decorated.

Improvements- for a busy restaurant they need to become more efficient. We went at half six and it wasn't until 1h15 later our mains arrived - and they had people waiting! Drinks need to be ordered immediately, food ordered when poppadoms are delivered and the staff need to keep an eye on how far along people are.

There's a balance between efficiency and rushing that needs still to be struck, but the restaurants only been there for a while, so lets give it a chance.

It's busy there now, so lets hope they can keep improving before the good will runs out. Certainly the best Indian in the thirsk area and we'd def go again. Thanks
