“An amazing experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

With friendly staff and brilliant birds the falconry centre is great for all ages.

There are 3 great displays throughout the day which let the bird fly in and around the arena. The staff are very knowledgeable about the birds and explain a lot of interesting information about them. At the end of the display there is a chance for anyone to hold a bird, this is for free!!!

Many birds of different shapes and sizes are to see. With boards packed with information next to their cages helping you to understand more about these many birds of prey. I enjoyed leisurely walking round looking at these interesting birds of prey.

At the falconry centre a good gift shop which I bought a snowy owl teddy from at a reasonable price. There is a range of items from key rings to teddies, for all ages. There are also many present ideas. There is a coffee/tea machine, and ice creams in the summer. Sadly there weren't any there when I went.

I would strongly recommend this to other people and truly enjoyed this fabulous day out :)

“Worth waiting for”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013 via mobile

I bought my 9 year old grandson an "experience" for Christmas and he had waited patiently until this week for the day to come around. It was well worth the wait! His half day started with experience of several different birds flying to his hand. (It helped that there were only 6 children in the group so not long to wait in between turns). He then learned how to pick up and handle the birds and went on a "hawk walk" around the centre. We stayed on to watch one of the flying displays before setting off home. The staff were wonderful - pitching their talks at just the right level but never patronising the children. He really enjoyed the day and has some great photos to remind him of his experience. (He especially liked Ethel the vulture!)

“Great bird displays”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013 via mobile

Visited here with a groupon voucher i bought and visited with my husband , son in late teens and my grandaughter and had a thoroughly enjoyable day . When we arrived there was already a bird display in progress that we were told we could go into. But we chose to look around and see the next display , what the member of staff failed to tell us was that all the displays were different so we were quite disappointed that we didnt join this 1st display. Although there wasnt a vast amount of birds to see , the display more than made up for it . Our grandaughter loved the play/ sand area. There was a shop and cafe area but there was also plenty of picnic tables ... Worth a visit especially if you can get a special offer

“brilliant day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

My wife and I visited the centre using a voucher we had bought from Groupon, after a few wrong turns we found our way to the centre just in time for one of their exhibitions. We found the staff to be very good, polite and helpful in every way. I found the whole day to be very informative and enjoyable. My wife had a bit of a phobia about being close to birds, but before the day’s end the staff had her involved in flying an owl also feeding a few of the birds of prey from her gloved hand. All the children in the audience were given a chance to participate and seemed to fully enjoy it, a great day out for all the family.

“Could not fault”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

This attraction has such a good reputation locally and after hearing a lot about it, we finally paid it a visit. So glad we did!

Arrived just in time for the flying show at 11.30, the nice lady was quick to let us in so we caught the start of it and glad we did! The girl doing it had a great way of making the educational information interesting and we couldn't believe how close the birds came!

Afterwards we had lunch in the little cafe, it is worth noting how good the prices are, the same goes for the gift shop. I overheard the lady telling another group, that it was fine to pop out to the local recommended pub for lunch and come back later in the day, I like that it seemed such a relaxed family atmosphere!

After lunch, we watched the second display and the size of the birds in this display was unbelievable! Loved it!

Once the display ended, we had a leisurely look around the birds (I've never been to a place with so many huge eagles), all the birds looked so well and it seems they don't poo - it's that clean! Reading the information signs was interesting but talking to the staff, who despite being busy with people on a special course, were happy to tell us about their extended family of birds!

Walking around, every now and again you would get a shock thinking one of the birds was free by itself, just as it flew back to the staff who were running the course which after reading several reviews must have been one of the experience days the centre offers, will look at buying one for someone's Christmas present - and one for myself!

Had a quick cuppa to warm up in the cafe and then it was off for the final display of the day, even with fewer people in the final show, the quality was just as good, if not better as the birds wizzed around us! Even got to hold one of the little ones afterwards!

The centre isn't a vast multi acre site or theme park but we enjoyed a full, good quality, family day out and will be visiting again and you should soon! Enjoy!

Oh, and you will love Hector, he's a very special member of staff...
