“Worth every penny!”

I've eaten at The Buck a couple of times for sunday lunch and have always enjoyed it. This time we went for lunch on a friday and tried the al a carte menu. Food was excellent, I particularly enjoyed the rabbit starter, I can definitely recommend this dish to anyone. Even though the pub was busy with lots of people dining we didn't wait long for any of the courses. Well done Matty, Sam and Jack. We will definitely be back soon.

“Excellent Sunday Lunch and friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2014 via mobile

We called in for Sunday lunch and were made very welcome in the cosy bar area with our dog. Dont let this put you off as there is a lovely dining area as well. All three courses were delicious and the best roasties ever! Food was presented beautifully and really good value. Lovely atmosphere with friendly staff, we will definitley visit again! Nice walks nearby worth the drive out for.

“Hidden Gem”

Was visiting relations in the area and wow, what a find. Nice North Yorkshire village bar and a restaurant with great food at sensible prices. Varied and interesting menus, with an extra spark. Great service. Desserts to die for. Not to be missed.

“Great dining experience available at a reasonable price”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2014 via mobile

We are lucky to live a few miles from The Buck and have now visited twice. The first time we went all out and had the full al a carte menu and really enjoyed the experience. It was expensive for two but the quality justified the price.

Our second meal, just this week was for a lunch stop rather than a big meal. We went for the 'market' menu which was under £20 for three courses. I had a pulled pork starter which was excellent followed by one of the best cooked pieces of fish I've ever had. The hake was at that perfect point just beyond translucent. I finished with a tasty apple crumble. My wife, a vegetarian, had a good choice as well so for both of us this was a great lunch coming in at just per £40.

Service from the one member of staff was excellent. This resteraunt is an example where a young and talented couple have grasped an opportunity with both hands and we are lucky to be able to walk there.

“Outstanding & Memorable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2014 via mobile

I have visited the Buck regularly over the last 20 years or so & found the victuals to be reliable, if unspectacular, over that period.
However, I can now say that, based on yesterday's experience, the food here now is of the highest calibre & should turn this once unassuming pub into a genuine foodie destination.
Our starters alone were enough to convince me that we had stumbled across something rather sensational in the land of "generous portions of Yorkshire fayre", (yawn).
A marvellous lunch, faultless food, perhaps slightly laid-back service, but overall the best pub meal I've eaten in many years.
Thanks very much to all at the Buck- we shall return very soon.
