“best recommendation!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

Having had a few recommendations about the buck inn maunby, i was dying to give it a go. I add to that i have never used tripadvisor, but i was told by my collegues to look at the reviews before i go, and after my experience i had to join in.
I arrived at the buck and immediately greeted with a smile from a yound lady, a very pleasant and welcoming one at that (see more later)
We were offered to take a seat in front of the glowing fire and she would bring our drinks and menus over. the bar had a few drinkers in, just enough to make that background noise. The bar was very much a traditional village pub, open fires, wooden beams.
The same young lady came and took our order, very helpful about all things on the menu, from how things were made to how they were served. My partner asked all sorts, and there was no hesitation with an answer. To start i had Whitby crab, and my partner the duo of duck, it was delicious!! and the presentation was superb. For mains i had cod, and my partner shepherds pie, which had a twist, it had a lamb loin in there too. He also had a portion of beef dripping chips, which he said were great, but i didnt get to sample any, but they looked tasty.
we couldnt manage a dessert, so we headed back down from the restaurant to the fire and had some drinks to finish, this is where i began talking to the lady, i questioned about to where the chef had trained at, but he hadnt, it was all from hand on experience, he had worked in some restaurants i had heard of, and by the looks of it they were passionate about food, at that i learnt it was his partner i was talking too. brilliant that a young couple have such a dream, a pleasure to listen too. i wish them luck!!

“Well worth a visit, and another visit.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2013

As we were meeting family and friends for lunch we found this lovely country pub on tripadvisor as a convenient place to meet between Ripon and Sunderland. On arrival we were greeted by the very friendly hostess who took our drinks order and suggested we seat in front of the roaring fire and she would bring our drinks over.
Eventually sitting down for a meal from the set market menu without going through the menu the meals were superb three courses and not every one a hit. I can confirm the beef melted in the mouth.
Overall the meal was fantastic and great value too.
If we get the chance we will return, I recommend the Buck Inn very highly indeed.

“Gorgeous Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013 via mobile

Never heard of this place, stumbled across on the Internet and the pics looked good.
We went for Sunday lunch, the food was gorgeous and surroundings lovely next to a roaring real fire.
Cheese soufflé and chicken main and duck and beef mains all faultless and absolutely delicious! So pleased we found it!
Couldn't squeeze a desert in but from what we say they looked amazing. Worth the extra trip for us and we will go again!!
