Having had a few recommendations about the buck inn maunby, i was dying to give it a go. I add to that i have never used tripadvisor, but i was told by my collegues to look at the reviews before i go, and after my experience i had to join in.
I arrived at the buck and immediately greeted with a smile from a yound lady, a very pleasant and welcoming one at that (see more later)
We were offered to take a seat in front of the glowing fire and she would bring our drinks and menus over. the bar had a few drinkers in, just enough to make that background noise. The bar was very much a traditional village pub, open fires, wooden beams.
The same young lady came and took our order, very helpful about all things on the menu, from how things were made to how they were served. My partner asked all sorts, and there was no hesitation with an answer. To start i had Whitby crab, and my partner the duo of duck, it was delicious!! and the presentation was superb. For mains i had cod, and my partner shepherds pie, which had a twist, it had a lamb loin in there too. He also had a portion of beef dripping chips, which he said were great, but i didnt get to sample any, but they looked tasty.
we couldnt manage a dessert, so we headed back down from the restaurant to the fire and had some drinks to finish, this is where i began talking to the lady, i questioned about to where the chef had trained at, but he hadnt, it was all from hand on experience, he had worked in some restaurants i had heard of, and by the looks of it they were passionate about food, at that i learnt it was his partner i was talking too. brilliant that a young couple have such a dream, a pleasure to listen too. i wish them luck!!
