“Lovely stay, very friendly host, lovely location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2011

A real gem hidden in the middle of Thirsk, had a lovely stay for a week, Barry the host was so friendly and charming, and has a real knowledge of the area, especially if you love walking :)

If your an antiques you will love the rooms as they are beautfully furnished with period furniture.
Rooms really spacious and great value for money and the breakfasts were great!
would certainly recommend if your looking for a real countryside experience, and will definatly be back.

Room Tip: Had room 3

Wonderful location, right between the dales and moors so easy to see both with a day for each. Real James Herriot country. Barry, the owner couldnt have been more helpful and friendly with plenty of tips on where to go and what to see. Wonderful full english breakfast which was perfect. Parking available right outside.

Good location: walking distance of market place on edge of St James Green but very quiet. Lovely old house, though possibly not well-suited to B&B accommodation. Full of interesting furniture, leaving little room for guests. Everything was OK: ie clean, comfortable & ample breakfast. But for £70 for a couple for one night , there is an expectation of a bit of luxury, rather than (a) a basic bathroom (not ensuite) with a used bar of soap, no shower, no toiletries, no towel rail; (b) nowhere to sit: (c) stale, basic tea bags (fresh milk though); (d) breakfast at cramped shared table, with weak coffee, tiny butter portions, no fresh fruit.
