“Wonderful B and B... fantastic stay!”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

We stayed at The Gallery for three nights over Easter 2014. Everything about our stay there was fantastic: a wonderful, warm welcome from Kathryn; a spotlessly clean, large and lovely room and the best B&B breakfast I have ever had! There's a fab choice of quality sausages (I had pork and chive, my partner had pork and apple). On day two, my partner chose the homemade haddock fishcake with poached egg, and loved it so much, she had it the next day too! The local blackcurrant jam was also delicious and I bought a few pots for us and my dad. Kathryn offered plenty of info about Thirsk and surrounds, and was fine with us eating our fish and chips in the dining room one evening. All in all, we had a great stay at a truly lovely, first-class B&B – thank you Kathryn. We would highly recommended this B&B to anyone wanting to explore the beautiful North York Moors area.

Room Tip: We had lovely room one, which is at the front of the property. We were not disturbed by any street n...

Thank you so much! We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We are in a great location for exploring the Moors and the Dales. Glad you enjoyed my homemade fishcakes too! Hope to see you back here one day?

Kathryn was so helpful and gracious to us during our one night stay. Her suggestions helped us turn a one night pilgrimage to Herriot Museum into a 2 day exploration of Ripon as well. The room was immaculate; breakfast excellent and it is family friendly. Thank you Kathryn for helping us realize a dream!

Nice place close to the town square and fantastic The World of James Herriot. High standard, great breakfast and nice hosts. They gave us relevant information about Thirsk. Even the weather was good! We would love to come back.

Thank you! We have guests from all over the world, many of them to visit The World of James Herriot, so it is great that we are located right across the road! We do hope you can come back one day, maybe with the children? I can't guarantee the weather though!!

My husband, toddler son and I stayed for four nights at The Gallery during the Easter holidays. I was apprehensive about booking a B and B for our break, what with our two year old son, but Kathryn made us feel very welcome and really catered for him. We stayed in Room 3 which is at the back of the property and it was both roomy and quiet; we all fitted in no problem. The room and en suite were fantastic, we couldn't fault the standard of the accommodation at all. Breakfast was gorgeous and there was plenty of choice, my husband particularly enjoyed the wild boar sausages! My son even had crockery and cutlery suitable for his age provided each morning and he couldn't wait to get down to breakfast each day. Kathryn really has thought of everything her guests may need from tea/coffee facilities, homemade biscuits, information brochures and even top range toiletries in the en suite. There were even bathroom slippers and robes! And one evening, when we had bought fish and chips on a rather cold evening, she very kindly lent us plates and cutlery and use of the dining room so we could eat in comfort! I would not hesitate to recommend The Gallery for anyone looking to stay in Thirsk and have already passed on the details of this amazing little B and B to my parents. It was a great base in which to explore North Yorkshire and we hope to stay at The Gallery again sometime in the future.

Room Tip: Parking on the road opposite The Gallery is by a timed disc for 2 hours at a time. You can ask for t...

Thank you! We're pleased you enjoyed your stay and glad you liked the wild boar sausages, we like to offer guests something a bit different as well as the much loved pork sausage. It was a pleasure having your son here and having grandchildren ourselves we have a good range of 'Thomas' plates, bowls etc! Glad he enjoyed the breakfasts too! We hope to see you again one day.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Gallery at the end of March 2014. The welcome was warm and the room was very comfortable, with everthing you could want to make for a lovely stay. The shower room was lovely and it was all warm and cosy. We were at the back of the property and it was very quiet. It is only 2 minutes to the Market Square with its range of shops, cafes and restaurants. The breakfast room was full of information about the area and had a range of books for walking and maps to borrow which is very useful. The breakfast was outstanding with a very good choice and everything was perfectly cooked. There are certificates on the wall showing prizes won for food and I can see why. Although there is no parking directly outside the Gallery, there is onstreet disc parking overnight(4pm to 10am) just across the road. We will certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: If you want a really quiet stay ask for the room at the back

Couldn't fault this lovely, homely B&B. Breakfasts were excellent and the accommodation was spotlessly clean. It was a great location to explore Thirsk and the surrounding area. We stayed for two nights but this was not long enough. The room was large and well decorated and the hosts made us most welcome. The home made biscuits were very tasty.
