Although I have visited herstmonceux castle several times before, this was my first visit to the annual medieval festival. I took my children aged 7, 4 and 2.
We were blessed with good weather, as I would imagine rain would make displays challenging, as it is predominantly outdoor entertainment.
The grounds are lovely and well kept, and the castle itself is one of the most picturesque I have visited.
Although entrance for the medieval day is pricier than the castles usual admission, I was pleasantly surprised there was more than enough to keep the whole family entertained.
With the parades, siege, falconry, jousting tournaments, medieval encampments (to name but a few), I am only disappointed we have not visited previously!
we will definitely be visiting next year, where I envisage I will have had to make 3 costumes for my children to wear!
