We ate at the Queen Victoria during a 2 night stay in the area. The staff were very friendly & welcoming. The food arrived quickly & was of great quality & reasonable priced. Good beer too & a quiet relaxing place to eat.

Food is excellent value for money. All fresh and tasted great, homemade puddings were an added bonus. Service was efficient and couldn't do enough for you. Landlord soon picked up that my husband liked his food..portions were very large.
Locals were all friendly and welcoming, even recommending places to visit.Highly recommend.

We went for a meal on Saturday night and were really impressed. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, the food was cooked exactly as we expected and was piping hot. It was reasonably priced and the menu was varied and catered for all tastes. We did not stay there as we were staying elsewhere but would definitely return there for a meal if we are in that part of the country.

Has a nice afternoon pint there while on holiday in April 2013, good ale options, Adnams, woodfordes and Aspalls for cider drinkers, bit basic, sat in public bar with locals and dogs! Perfectly fine, didn't eat so can't comment. Menu looked ok but decor a little dated, landlord very welcoming.

we live in the area but had not used the Victory, we had family & grandchildren come to stay and popped up on the off chance for Sunday lunch, the staff were brilliant, there were no tables but as the weather was good we sat in the garden, the carvery was really good value for money, and the chef carving the meat was good with the children, the man serving in the bar ( maybe he was the manager) was brilliant, he made my grandson's day, now I know we will use this pub again

We booked the Queen Victoria for a 2 night weekend stay - and had a great time. The staff were extremely friendly and the breakfast was excellent. The rooms are on an annexe - a bit like a motel - but were very good value for money. We paid £95 per night for the room which included a delicious Full English Breakfast. The rooms were basic but very comfortable. Our only suggestion would be for a screen in the shower instead of a shower curtain - as the water floods onto the floor into the bathroom. But this is a very minor thing - overall we had a great stay and were looked after by some excellent staff. Thank you.

The room was a good size and nicely furnished with pine furniture. However it was very hot (fan provided) and the bed had definitely seen better days; the mattress had 'collapsed',meaning that you could feel the springs coming through. The ensuite shower room was in a shocking condition and i would think posed a substantial health hazard (hence the one star rating). There was copious amounts of mould on the ceiling, on the floor and on the shower 'hose', it didn't look as if it had been cleaned for months (it came off onto my finger then I touched it) which was a little odd as the wash basin and toilet seemed clean enough. I can't begin to understand how staff, who had been in to clean the toilet and wash basin and subsequently change towels and empty the bin could possibly have thought that it was alright to leave this mould all over the place!

I did report it, so hopefully the mould will have been cleaned up before the next guest arrives although I don't think that much can be done about the floor (apparently it will all be renewed over the winter). I liked the area and will probably return but will not be staying at the Queen Victoria Inn.
