Description: Book a romantic dinner in the restaurant at The Hoste Hotel, where the Chefs create dishes that owe much to locally sourced produce, not least a great selection of local seafood from the nearby coast. We have a high quality, informal, relaxed atmosphere with very friendly and efficient staff. The imaginative menu is complimented by a 200-bin wine list that includes some keenly priced classics.

As a family of 8, we went to the hoste for a quick beverage at the start of our night. In the bar there is a buzzing atmosphere and chilled environment. Perfect for a drink, but as a family of 8 we did struggle to find a table big enough for us!! Would recommend the bar area.

We went to eat on Dec 29th and had per booked, they were very busy and turning people away. We both had the roast dinner which I have to say was one of the nicest I had had for sometime and very good value for money. The service we received was excellent. We also had two dogs with us who were made very welcome, this is defiantly a very dog friendly restaurant, pub, hotel if for some weird reason you don't like dogs then don't go. I would defiantly go back. We did not stay in the Hotel so can't comment.

On holiday last Summer we were in here nearly every day for lunch or dinner and every time we were impressed. Back on holiday in January with my partner and we decided to give it a go (despite lots of negative reviews below).

The Hoste has undoubtedly gone down hill. Whilst the service was fine and the food was reasonable, it definitely wasn't anywhere near as busy as it used to be. There was something definitely a bit 'off' about the staff - when we arrived we asked for a table and were sent to another part of the bar and told to speak to staff there...and then when we got there we were sent back to where we had been before. There was a slight feeling that perhaps we were an inconvenience. However, my opinion may be coloured by the other exceptional meals I have previously enjoyed here (it's never as good when you go again) and the fact that Socius (just down the road) puts all other restaurants in the area to shame)

That being said, the food was still decent with reasonable portions and the service (once we were seated) was fine.

Today we visited Brancaster and on our way home we drove through the wonderful village of Burnham Market. This is one of the most beautiful places I have visited in the UK and to improve it further we had drinks and a meal at The Hoste. Inside we found that our two dogs were made welcome, the locals were lovely and friendly, the staff were vert attentive and the food was amazing. I had mushroom risotto which was the best I have ever tasted. We live approximately 1 and a half hours away and I will certainly go back soon and recommend it to anyone who appreciates everything I have said above.

It’s like the heart has been torn out of this place. It used to be fun, buzzy, and served good, interesting food. We visited often. Not any more. We arrived on a Thursday. Very quiet. No one in the lounge. We had a couple of drinks in the bar, and ordered sandwiches for lunch, at the bar. When we got the bill a service charge was added. Hotel did remove this!
Had the Artisan Sourdough with aged balsamic at lunchtime on the Friday with some Brancaster oysters. We were served 2 x half slices of plain white bread, 2 x half slices of plain brown bread, and a mini white roll with a small pot of flavoured olive oil. Certainly not enough for the bread. Anyway it was not Artisan Sourdough! The oysters were nicely warm served on a bed of salt! We did not risk dinner that evening choosing instead to go out. Back in the lounge around 8.30pm we were the only ones there. Asked if we could order drinks the waiter said he’d come back to us. After 15 minutes he did not come back. Went into the bar and ordered drinks. Also had to listen to a shouting match in the kitchen that lunchtime, next door to the lounge. Sad, very sad. The dinner menu offers a very limited choice. There was a 12oz on the bone sirloin offered for £34. Really! Most of the staff work hard to please which we appreciated. Save for that The Hoste Arms is overpriced for food and beverage and does not anywhere near compete with the new restaurants in Burnham Market. Sadly never going back again.
