“What a gem”
Reviewed June 8, 2018 for a stay in June 2018

We loved our stay in Overdale Cottage in the lovely village of Youlgreave. With walks from the front door into the stunning Bradford Dale and beyond andChatsworth and HaddonHall just a few miles away the cottage is a lovely comfortable base for a break in the Derbyshire Dales. A choice of three pubs in the village with all offering meals ensures that you will be well catered for. Our favourite was the Farmyard Inn with a great reasonably priced menu and curry and pie night specials but remember to book as these are very popular. The cottage has a lovely roof terrace with views down the valley, the ideal spot to plan your walks over a morning coffee or to soak up the sun later in the day. Like us I think you will find it difficult to tear yourself away from Overdale Cottage but you can always book again for a different time of year. We visited in June but would love to see it in Autumn or Winter. Maybe next year.

“Fantastic stay”
Reviewed April 30, 2018 for a stay in April 2018

We stayed here for a long weekend with our 7 month old and our dog. The village was beautiful ; so quiet, with all the essentials (nice walks, village shop and pubs.

The accommodation was immaculate. Spotlessly clean, cosy and warm and beautifully renovated.

We can't wait to return and can't recommend overdale enough!

“Great location with fantastic walks”
Reviewed April 23, 2018 for a stay in April 2018

Perfect for a couple wanting to walk and explore the area, with a good choice of pubs and a handy local shop. Lovely historical village thats very well kept with the benefit of very friendly locals. The log burner and the shower (with plenty of power and hot water) plus the outside rear upper seating area with its fantastic view are all extremely nice features of the cottage. Care would need to be taken for anyone with mobility issues, as the property has a tight spiral inner staircase leading to the bedroom and bathroom. All very clean and tidy and good value for the money.

“A delightful, well located cottage which is always cosy and warm.”
Reviewed April 9, 2018 for a stay in April 2018

Just returned from our second stay at this delightful, cosy cottage with lovely views over the Bradford River. We had all sorts of weather..rain ,sleet and on Easter Monday snow. The cottage is always warm and there is a wood burning stove for additional heat. There are many walks straight from the cottage and a circular walk to the Lathkil Hotel is recommended where there is excellent food. We also visited Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House. We love Bakewell and the farmer's market. We had a fabulous lunch on Easter Sunday at the Farmer's Arms which is just a few minutes walk. The sun came out at the end of the week and we were able to enjoy a drink on the terrace overlooking the valley. Overall a great week.

“Perfect!”
Reviewed January 9, 2018 for a stay in December 2017

The location is idyllic, with a view down the valley and great walking routes. There is a steep slope to the main road and parking but do not let that put you off! The cottage is beautifully furnished and very cosy. Even though we were visitors in the area the neighbours were very friendly. We arrived Christmas eve to a lovely surprise of a Christmas card and a bottle of wine, which was a fabulous touch! The village pub is quaint and welcoming as is the quintessentially English village of Youlgrave.
We were lucky enough to meet the owners Phil & Sue on our last day...such a lovely couple.
All in all a perfect place to spend a relaxed festive season. A real must!
