A lovely cottage, fab views and lovely walks from the river just down the cobbled path from the front door. The roof terrace was well used as the weather was good. Perfect little place for a break.
We stayed at Overdale Cottage March 2017. It was a 60th Birthday Present from my daughter. It was perfect. From the time we opened the door the cottage was waiting to greet us. It was warm, inviting and waiting to comfort us after our journey. We felt it was our home that was on the edge of heaven! After 'off loading' our bags we went across the road to the Farm Yard in. What a lovely greeting we had by the staff there. Our Parsons Jack Russell came with us and laid down by the log fire while we had a delicious meal.
The next morning we awoke to glorious sun shine. Opening the curtains the view that lay before us was truly breathtaking. After breakfast we began our walk along the River Dale and it was just perfect. Our Jack Russell Alfie sniffed and investigated along the meandering river until we reached our destination at the end of our walk where we sat and had hot chocolate in the local cafe in the village. After returning to the cottage we made a log fire and relaxed reading books and news papers for the rest of the afternoon.
My daughter and sister came and stayed at the Farm Yard Inn over night. We had another lovely meal there on the evening.
If you like cottages, want a piece of heaven then stay at Overdale it will welcome you with open arms and heaven will be just right outside the door.
We will return.
Thanks so much
Bernie and Andy
My Partner, Wilson (our Puggle) & I have recently returned from a midweek break in Youlegrave staying at Overdale Cottage.
The cottage has all the facilities you need inc. plenty of pots, pans, glasses etc allowing you to cater for yourselves if you prefer. The view from the neat seating area is beyond words. Sue has put lots of thought into the decor and furnishings, all completely in keeping with the cottage.
We found all the locals to be extremely friendly. We particularly liked The Farmyard Inn were we enjoyed a lovely meal. The Fish & Chips at The George also looked amazing too.
Well behaved pets are welcome in both The George and The Farmyard Inn.
With plenty of walks on your doorstep and Bakewell being just a 7-10 minute drive away I highly recommend this Cottage as a perfect base for holiday.
We stayed at overdale cottage for a few days break with our dog. It was such a lovely Cosy cottage with fantastic views. The weather was lovely whilst there and the walks were great. Our dog loved the stream at the bottom of the cottage! The cottage had just what we were looking for and would recommend.
The location was fantastic and the cottage very warm and cosy. The views were fantastic from the terrace and the walks so pretty and plenty of wild life and spring flowers. The village of Youlgreave is particularly friendly and we will definitely return.
The cottage itself is on several good walking routes, which meant we never had to drive anywhere during our stay.
Overdale cottage is nice and cosy and was everything we needed for a great, relaxing and quiet weekend away.
We would definitely stay at this cottage again.
This was our third visit and it was lovely - sit at the breakfast table and you have a great river view. The cottage itself is very well equipped and the location, close to the centre of the village, is great.
