My husband and I stayed in this lovely cottage for a weekend break. The cottage is set in an idyllic location with lovely views over the river and beyond. The cottage was very clean and is very well equipped-It has a comfortable lounge with nice sofas and a log burner. The roof terrace is a lovely spot when the sun is shining to enjoy a relaing drink. The cottage is in a quaint little village with a shop and pubs serving great food-our favourite being the Farmyard Inn. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a relaxing break
Wonderful cottage with character. Very clean on arrival and you felt at home straight away .We came for 4 nights so humping one case up spiral staircase no problem .Bedroom was lovely as we slept with window open and curtains open to see sunrise in morning ...stunning .Car parking not an issue ,found a space every time , but this was September .Treck down from car was dodgy when wet , but it's worth it when you get there .locals are very friendly and will stop and chat ,especially the neighbours. Found the farmyard inn ok but a bit clicky. George pub was more our cup of tea with good ale and HUGE portions of good food .Our dogs loved the walks out & about an for touring the area its spot on .We are not a one for returning to same place , but this could come close .
Perfect cottage. Ideal for walking, you truly do not need to use the car if you do not want to. The roof terrace was perfect with beautiful views. We all enjoyed the river, perfect for cooling tired feet and legs. We only ate at the george hotel which was fab, good food, all genuinely home cooked and perfect if you fancied something to eat after a long walk; the Farmyard Inn does not open until tea time and was always packed never a seat in the garden. The walk up and down to the cottage is not for the faint hearted, it was hard going especially with luggage. But we had a fab stay the weather was kind and walked miles and went home for a rest!!!!! Had a Bakewell Tart from the Bakewell Tart shop which was ok. Bakewell cafe's are over priced, try Relish, tucked away but lovely food and extremely friendly staff. Recommend a visit to Ashbourne and buying Bakewell Tart from the deli near waitress, much nicer.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay at this lovely cottage. Nice walks, and pubs right on the doorstep. Good location for visiting Bakewell, Chesterfield and Chatsworth House. The Farmyard Inn is great for hospitality and lovely food, nice beer garden. The only little draw back is taking your luggage down the steep hill as no parking with the cottage, having said that it keeps you fit!
Lovely friendly lady living next door.
Hope to return soon.
Booked this cottage for a short break with hubby and dogs. What we liked about it was the position close to Bradford dale and being able to walk from the cottage. It was spotlessly clean on arrival with everything you could want for a break in the dales. It's not easy getting to the cottage from the road so may be an issue for some. However it's walking distance to a great pub (the farmyard inn) where we ate on 3 out of 4 nights. Owners very accommodating and it was a smooth booking process. Lovely raised sitting out area looking over the dale.
The cottage is in a great location with nice views over the dale. Youlgreve is central to areas where we did many walks over the week.
The cottage was as it was advertised, and very comfortable for 2 people.
Hard to get the big bags up the spiral staircase, so we left them downstairs No big issue as there was plenty of room for them in the lounge area.
We stayed at Overdale for a week in June, with our 5 month old baby and a dog! The cottage is perfect, very clean, had everything we needed, and best of all the location was fantastic. It is a great spot to visit nearby villages/towns and explore the Peak Districts. There is a beautiful little river just a short walk from the cottage too (which the dog loved!). The Farmyard Inn is a great pub, great food, and is dog friendly too - definitely worth a visit! Phil & Sue were very helpful too - highly recommend.
