We booked Agricola House for a family celebration, throughout the booking process the owners were very swift to respond to questions and were more than willing to provide help.
The house itself is a mixed beauty; not one bedroom is the same as another, and these quirks added to the atmosphere.
Location wise we couldn't have asked for more, close enough to have a stroll to bar/restaurants with easy access routes if wanting to travel further afield.
Would I book again; absolutely!!!
Exactly what we needed. Comfortable, clean, stylish and centrally located accommodation for 13 family members coming together to celebrate a 70th birthday. The space allowed us all to mingle as much as we wanted and to have privacy whenever it was needed. Wirksworth was great - we did a treasure hunt challenge which blew away cobwebs and helped us explore unexpected areas. There is no doubt, we will be returning.
7 couples stayed over 3 nights at new year and we all loved it. Very comfortable beds, stylishly designed bedrooms with a lot of character and plenty of space for preparing food, dining and relaxing.
Wirksworth is a fascinating small town with plenty to see. We did two excellent walks from the door.
The fridge was maybe a fraction too small for us all with our post-Christmas food to share but really I am being a bit picky here. Would we go back? The answer is a definite YES from all of us.
We booked this for the New Year weekend with 12 friends and had a fantastic time. On arrival, everyone's comment was WOW. The accommodation is immaculately presented and a lot of thought has obviously gone into the planning of the house. A real 'home from home'. We enjoyed the social aspect of the dining kitchen, the living area and celebrated New Year's Eve with Big Ben's chimes coming from the cinema room - a brilliant idea. The house is perfectly placed in the centre of the town, with plenty of parking, meaning we didn't need the cars until it was unfortunately time to leave. Would recommend the Red Lion pub for food. Owners were extremely helpful from the time of booking, answering any queries/recommendations, etc.
We are a group of girls who all started our nurse training together 34 years ago! We've been coming away for reunion weekends and this is the best place we've ever stayed in and will definitely be back.
Wirksworth is a lovely village and the house is so near everything with plenty of parking and great living space. The kitchen table provides a great catch up venue and the lounge great for reminiscing- we could all sit and chat .
The house has been lovingly renovated and felt at home on arrival. Rachel and Mark were superb to deal with.
Just returned from a brilliant birthday weekend. The house is amazing and absolutely spotless with everything you need for your stay just 5 minutes walk from the village centre with several restaurant's and quirky little shops. Sorry about the empties, but a good time was had by all and will hopefully book again. Thanks
Our party of 14 (11 adults & 3 children) stayed here to celebrate my BIG birthday! The house was perfect in every way. It was easy to find with plenty of parking and had everything we needed. The kids made full use of the cinema whilst the adults did the same with the sauna! The town of Wirksworth was beautiful, with lots of lovely independent shops as well as eateries. I would definitely recommend staying here for any kind of gathering and we're all hoping to go back soon. Thank you Rachel and Mark for the welcome tray, it was a lovely touch.
