Stayed here for a weekend break in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. We definitely weren't disappointed. Tim welcomed us with tea and cake and made us feel at home. We stayed in the magistrate's room which had everything we needed. Enjoyed a lovely evening meal and the breakfast was also lovely. Can heartily recommend this gem.

we went for a weekend break with the intention of walking (the walking didn't happen...)
Lovely warm, welcoming and extremely clean rooms. Tim cooks an amazing breakfast and is a wonderful host.
The 'lets have a quick pint' at lunch time was our downfall - the village has lots of good pubs with roaring fires and great local company (thoroughly recommend 'the Blacks Head')
We will be returning (to both the hotel and the pub)
.....walking can be overrated

What an amazing little place!
A converted old Victorian Police station with the bars still on the wall in one place!
Big and comfortable room with everything I needed and Tim makes a fantastic breakfast...

All the little souvenirs and ornaments of old police things give it massive character.

If I ever revisit Wirksworth I know where I'll stay :-)

Really made to feel welcome by Tim, who provided tea & cake upon our arrival. Really good breakfasts, well organized & the whole place was spotlessly clean. We really enjoyed our stay & would recommend.

We have, once again, come away from The Old Lockup as very happy, satisfied customers. Tim made us feel as at home as ever and the breakfast was, as always, beautiful. We tried a new room, The Magistrates, and it was the best yet! Can't wait to return. Thanks Tim. See you soon!

Pretty much everything about this place was great, just one minor issue.

We were in the hayloft and there was another room opposite, I think the people in this room were smokers and were in and out all night. The doors banged and the room door wasn't very soundproof so this kept waking my wife up, who is quite a light sleeper.

If the people in the opposite room hadn't been in and out all night this room would have been perfect.

Tim greeted us with a pot of tea and home made cake - very welcome. The bedroom was cosy, spotlessly clean and the bed wonderfully comfortable. We ate dinner at The Old Lockup on our arrival evening, and the three course meal Tim prepared was truly delicious ( must pre-book dinner). Tim's home made bread ( served at dinner and breakfast ) was delicious. We had a great stay and can highly recommend The Old Lockup.
