“Beautiful cottage in a great location for exploring the Peak District”
Reviewed August 20, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Ivy Cottage is charming, located in the pretty village of Winster within walking distance of the local shop and pub. We were a party of 6 adults and there was plenty of room to spread out and have our own space. A very well equipped kitchen enabled us to cater for a large family reunion on one day too. Matt and Becky were really helpful, the cottage was immaculate and the welcome basket was a nice touch too. Winster was a good base to explore the Peak District, so much to see in the area, would definitely look to book the cottage again.

“Fantastic cottage, great village”
Reviewed July 7, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Winster is a lovely wee village with very friendly people and some great little surprises. The cottage itself is everything we could have hoped for. Spotlessly clean, spacious, fitted with all the mod-cons you could need an an extraordinary amount of extras including board games, books, playstation and games, dvds, local information, books, travel cots... I could go on for ages.

The cottage makes great use of the large amount of space. There were 2 couples and 2 under 1s in our group but I think it could comfortably take 6 adults and everyone would have enough room to eat and relax together or seperately if they wanted to.

Winster is a great place, we luckily timed our stay to coincide with the annual Winster Wakes festival so there was plenty of stuff on the go. The little park and grassy area at the end of the lane down the side of the shop is perfect for taking kids and having a picnic.

Both the Old Bowling Green and the Miners Standard pubs are highly recommended wit hthe Old Bowling Green probably shading it.

“Top quality accommodation in every respect with extremely helpful Matt and Becky”
Reviewed June 21, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

The house was presented in exemplary fashion and was very clean, tidy and nothing to fault. The house is lovely and very well maintained with a multitude of rooms all well laid out with ample facilities.

We had six adults and a four year old and were visited for one day by another family group of three. There was plenty of space for all.

The garden has been really well looked after and is clearly a labour of love and matches the delightful village location. The local pub is within easy walking distance and were most helpful when we arrived late on a busy Friday night and ensured we were all fed. As they say, 'The locals were friendly' and in this village that is an understatement as we were welcomed in the local shop and by nearby residents too.

We stayed a week and couldn't have asked for more, apart from a few more days of course.

Many thanks to Matt and Becky and best wishes for the future.

“Outstanding, just what we were looking for!”
Reviewed May 24, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Having spent many hours checking web sites Ivy Cottage 'caught my eye'. Seemed just what we were looking for. Having booked it, 6 family members & a young baby had all the usual worries, would it be clean? well equipped? in a good location?
I would have to say that having just returned from a week at Ivy, simply perfect! The cottage was spotlessly clean, every piece of equipment you could ask for (& more) partcuarly well sited, many local walks & within a 15 minute drive of all the local towns & villages. Matt & Becky were very helpful & attentive ensuring that our stay was very comfortable & relaxing.

“Excellent accommodation, hosts and location :)”
Reviewed May 10, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Brilliant accommodation for two families to share, one of the best places we have stayed in and the perfect base to explore the local area. The owners Matt & Becky couldn't have been more helpful and have added the extra touches such as a bottle of wine, chocolates on arrival, to let you know that this is really an excellent holiday cottage. The kids loved playing in their 'own' snug/lounge with lots of toys, books, DVDs etc. We will definitely be returning again having loved the accommodation and area around Matlock so much.:)

“Home from home”
Reviewed April 28, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Ivy cottage is a beautiful, clean, well equipped cottage. It really is a home from home. The location is perfect with attractions and amenities only short distances away. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

“Trying to find anything wrong would be "nit-picking"!!!”
Reviewed April 11, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Just coming to the end of our week at Ivy Cottage and I can honestly say it is one of (if not THE) best appointed accommodations we have stayed in. Whilst there is not much "going on" in Winster (especially with young-ish children) we were never far from anything to make this an issue (Poole Caverns / Chatsworth / Heights of Abraham / Eyam / Matlock...).
The rooms are beautifully decorated and with plenty of lovely 'little touches' such as the guest reports book and small notices to help you on your way it's impossible not to feel relaxed from the start.
The recommendation would be to have a few first outings planned before arrival so you are not wasting time and take some time top do some of the Winster Walks...we only did one but wished we'd done a couplke more.
Being a road cyclist I took on many of the hills around here (and didn't lose...although I'm not sure that means I won...) and that was a great experience too..
Would not hesiyaye to recommend to friends and family alike.
