We stayed in Cranberry Cottage but next time would gladly stay in any of the accommodations for two or four people on this beautiful property on Bonsall Lane near Winster. This was an extraordinary example of what we can only call "the uber cottage holiday experience". We have stayed in many cottages across England and Wales and Blakelow Farm and its proprietor Steve Ogan combine all the desirable elements and do each one to perfection. We drank in peace and quiet through every pore. Slept motionless in dreamy, noiseless comfort. We're as warm as we needed to be (which is saying something because we are from Barbados and we are used to being warm!) We had music, free WiFi and electronic media on tap. We had fun playing chef in our stylish, well equipt kitchen and relaxed in our cosy but downright elegant living and dining space. We did a couple of gorgeous walks starting from our cottage door, and there were literally hundreds more readily accessible from a short drive away. And of course there was Steve, the most helpful, thoughtful and empathetic of hosts....also reputed to be a wizard in the kitchen when doing dinners for guests by special request. We are saving that delight for our next visit!

Room Tip: They are all exquisite. If things like having a bath as opposed to a luxury shower in a wet room, or more sitting room capacity, or the best of the views which are all pretty glorious, matter a great deal to you, just contact Steve and ask him to advise you on your choice. We took what was available and loved it. And we'd take that approach again. We may well have to as this is a popular property whose visitors books demonstrate that people keep coming back....as many as 6 times and counting!

We stayed for the second time in Christmas Cottage. The first time was wonderful and one always wonders whether the second time will be as good - it was!

Blakelow Farm is immaculate and deserves all of its high ratings. The cottages are simply stunning and contain everything which you will need for the perfect week away! I would like to say that it is like home but it's actually better - we didn't want to leave!

Christmas Cottage has an amazing view down the dale towards Chatsworth House in the distance. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed two breakfasts outside on our private terrace which overlooks the surrounding fields.

The cottage was very clean and is equipped to a very high standard. The owner goes the "extra mile" with finishing touches - a welcome hamper of local produce and a teddy bear, instructions on how to light the wood burning stove, bathrobes and even a change of all towels mid-week.

Location is perfect - so many attractions are within a 45 minute driving radius - Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Crich Tramway Museum, the Monsal Trail, the High Peak Trail, Peak Rail and Carsington Water!

Very highly recommended - its better than most 5 star hotels!

Room Tip: All cottages look perfect, but Christmas Cottage is the only one with an upstairs shower and toilet and it probably does have the best views! They are all amazing!

This was my second stay at Blakelow Farm and yet again I didn't want to leave. The attention to detail, the location, the luxury, there aren't enough superlatives to describe it. As soon as you walk in the door all the stresses of normal life just disappear! Steve is an excellent host and the girls (hens) are very entertaining too. I am not the best at sleeping, but I struggled to get out of the most comfy bed until 10 o'clock every day. As soon as we got home we were looking when we could return and we have now booked a long weekend at Christmas and we can't wait to return. If you want to 'get away from it all' then this is the place for you.......

Room Tip: Choose any, you wont be disappopinted.

Our first trip to Derbyshire in 27 years! no children or dogs, just the two of us. We certainly hit gold with Candle cottages at Blakelow Farm. After a really awful journey, we were warmly greeted by Steve ( and 1 of the chickens) the cottage was superb, the welcome trug of local goodies tasty and delicious.Everything you could possibly want was provided.Steve should be really proud. We would recommend Blakelow 100%.

These cottages are superb, the attention to every detail is fantastic. Warm and clean. Situated perfectly for Peak district walking holidays or raiding the many shopping outlets in the area. It is also a great base for Matlock, Bakewell, and Buxton. They have their own livestock on site so fresh eggs etc are available. Due to the varying sizes of the cottages they can offer holidays for parties of varying sizes from one upwards . The owners are very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. This is without doubt my number UK holiday destination.

Room Tip: Talk to the owners, they have cottages available for singles , doubles , quartets etc, they will also vary the break length if asked.
