The loveliest cottage we have stayed in. Beautifully furnished well equipped. Brilliant walking area and then to kick your boots off in the basement, and for washing the dogs in the utility room in the basement room. Lovely welcome pack, the owners really do nice touches. Having stopped at a lot of Derbyshire villages specially at new year I rate Tideswell as one of the best. Nice cosy cottage if you want to stop in and plenty of eating places if you want to go out.
This was our first stay in Tideswell even though we have visited the area many times. It's a great base, close to Bakewell, Chatsworth etc. and some excellent walks. The village has everything you need, a co-op and village shop, bakery, butchers, two chip shops, three pubs and a number of cafes. The cottage itself was lovely, the best we've stayed in so far, we felt right at home from the start. It was very comfortable and cosy, had everything you'd need and was furnished to a high standard. The bedrooms in particular were very nice. The welcome pack had just what you needed to get you going, but the co-op is literally just around the corner so you are well placed for getting provisions. If it had off road parking it would have been perfect, and the steps leading up to the front door were a little awkward when loading and unloading, but not a major issue. Would definitely recommend.
Corner cottage is the perfect weekend/holiday retreat. Very well furnished with everything you need, good quality, and clean and fuss-free.
We are still at Corner Cottage for a few more days and I can say this is one of the best cottages we have stayed in .
I will break this review down into the cottage review and surroundings review .
The cottage is a traditional stone cottage and is like a tardis . The kitchen / diner is great . A top class kitchen with all new epuipment . Everything you need is here and more besides . Tv is a smart tv and is just the right size . All the bedrooms are fitted out with great furniture and the beds are really comfy . The quilts and covers are are great quality and makes you feel as though you are in a posh hotel .
All the rooms have dab clock radios as does the kitchen . The 3 bedrooms are well sized and the twin room has very good sized single beds .
The bathroom is done our very well and there are tons of towels for guests.
In the cellar is a washing machine and tumble drier that are too of the range and a fridge freezer . It is great space and we kept our bikes there .
Location. Dint think you can get a better location in the village . 3 pubs within 3 mins walk , all do good food and pet friendly . Our favourite (so far, 3 nights to go!)is the star pub about 20 yards from the cottage . Great real all and superb food . Just been renovated as well. Lots of cafes here too and the church/cathedral is lovely .
Great base for waking and cycling and tons of info in the cottage about this .
We can't praise this cottage enough . I am not one to praise when it is not due( see previous review I have placed for proof of this ) but I would happily return here .
It feels homely but also classy and we live it . Had 2 groups of family visit over the weekend and they all loved it too.
The owners are great too. Great welcome pack and a bottle of wine as the sink was slightly wobbly ( we didn't even notice it was) this is being fixed this week . The communication with the owners is also spot on and the information pack tells you all you need to know and more besides
Great cottage . Thank you for letting us stay .
