Recently stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed every minute. All the staff were very friendly and very helpful. Loved having our own private chalet. The food was great and lots of choice for breakfast too. A lovely stay in a great location of one of the most beautiful parts of this country.

Excellant stay at this Family run Hotel
Food was marvellous and had a very varied choice and the portions were large
The proprieter said to me we dont do small
They also have two hot tubs in the grounds which you can book with Champagne for an hour at a time
My wife and experienced this on Saturday evening just as it started to snow luckily temperature in hot tub was 40 degrees so we kept lovely and warm shame we had to get out eventually
Also good place for various attractions ; ie Alton towers .Ironbrige, Chatsworth House ,Hardwick House etc
Thoroughly recommend The Dog and Partridge at Swinscoe Derbyshire

Thank you for choosing to stay with us, the jacuzzi is the best in snow, especially with a bottle of champagne .

We have just returned from a one night stay and have to say what a fantastic time we had,the gentleman on reception was very helpful and explained where everything was.we were taken to our chalet which was execellent it was a very cold and wet day so was lovely to walk in and feel the warmth the rooms are lovely ours was very spacious with a double bed and bunk beds as well.we took our two dogs with us and have stayed in places before catering for animals which have been very drab and dirty but this is not the case at the dog and partridge, they are allowed into the bar with you which i thought was lovely.the food here was superb quite a good selection on the evening menu and the breakfast is the best i have had there was so much choice. the staff were all very helpful and very friendly would i stay here again definately would i reccommend the dog and partridge to my friends most certainly.

Room Tip: Room 21 beautiful

We used a voucher for a 2 night break. The pub is very oldy worldy as you enter, and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We were shown to a room in a purpose built chalet at the side of the hotel. There are a number of these chalets, which look rather strange as you approach, but don't be put off by the outside appearance. Inside they are spacious, warm, clean and very comfortable. The heating is very controllable and responsive, the water is piping hot in the shower and bath, and the bed had a nice firm mattress. Tv worked and was easy to use, and there was an ample tray of tea coffee etc. There was a hairdryer in the drawer. You could also pull your car up to the front door, making unpacking easy.
The breakfast was a very generous continental, with even some soya yoghurts - very much appreciated. There was an option for a cooked breakfast at extra cost, but to be honest the continental was so wonderful, that there was really no need to spend extra. Again the staff couldn't do enough for us, and were always very friendly.
There was a lovely shop in the reception of the hotel, selling all sorts of nice gifts.
The bar area was used to accomodate all the dog lovers who had brought their dog on holiday. The dogs were allowed to sit under the tables here at meal times, which was a very nice touch. The evening meal was very nicely cooked with lovey choice of vegetables, and an extensive choice included in the voucher price.
Recommended location, within easy reach of the lovely town of Ashbourne, and right next to the Tissington Trail or Dovedale or even Alton Towers.

Room Tip: Chalet 22 was lovely

we had our visit via woucher, and we took our dog, the staff were very welcoming and we were shown to our chalet. nice and warm and clean, but the bed was dreadful, cheap nasty mattress and and even worse duvet no warmth in it at all and it did'nt fit the bed so all in all a bad nights sleep.dinner on the night was alright but not worth the full price, the steps up to the restrant are very steep and not well lit. we opted to pay an extra 5.00 for a cooked breakfast which was alright ,had better included in the price elseware. steer clear of chalet 9.
be aware the do different deals with different people, we had to pay 10.00 a night for the dog, but on booking.com it's free and also get a cooked breakfast included in the price.
as it was our wedding anniversary ,dissapointed, would we go back again...no

Room Tip: chalet 9 , the bed is dreadful, and bedding in need of updating,we are all entitled to a good nights...

I am really sorry you were disappointed, with your stay.
But when you book on booking .com you have a choice of packages at different prices, you can choose full English conttental or no breakfast and you pay according your choice and 1dog per room is included in rate.

You choose a voucher site woucher which does a double room with continental breakfast included, with cocktail on arrival and main course alcarte meal on first night. At a very reduced rate,of £99 for two nights for the room we charge £10 per night for a dog, because of the extra cleaning involved, you were told this on booking and you paid the £20.
As to your mattress on your bed it was new this year and is a air sprung tempest ,and mattress are very personal choice, some people like firm and some people like soft and I am really sorry it didnt suityou.
We value all feed back and will be looking at all the lighting round the inn, there are many entrance to theinn, one has no steps and ramps for wheelchair users. You choose the one from the garden which the steps are quite steep.
