“Don't try the food unless you are desperate”
Reviewed November 16, 2012 via mobile

Nice interior, always long wait at bar on fri sat while bar staff serve friends or person directly in front of them. Using their vision to scan the bar would show them other waiting customers. Just poor training. Too many loud and getting drunk quick youngsters which spoils a quiet meal or drink. Tables whilst wiped seem to be done so with sticky cloths. Food is microwave cuisine so reasonable on some stuff but generally awful. Prices dnt match quality of food so that can be misleading. Waiting staff can be helpful but hit and miss and dnt try and be polite and ask if you can sit at a table as you may get a look which questions your sanity. Generally poorly managed on customer service with bar staff achieving good rate of making customers irate by ignoring them. Secret is to wave your money in the face of a bar person thereby getting noticed and yell your order out. Go early in day and midweek for a reasonable environment

“Its OK...Cheap and cheerful.”
Reviewed November 8, 2012 via mobile

Have been to the Tall Chimney many times now and for what it does and what its meant to be, it does well.

Its cheap and cheerful pub grub. Cheap food but served with a smile in relatively decent surroundings.

Think of it as a Wetherspoons...cos thats what its trying to imitate really.

If you're looking for top quality food then look elsewhere (Prezzos next door) but if you want a cheap meal out with the missus, friends or family then you cant beat it. Its almost as cheap as cooking at home.

All in all....a decent pub grub establishment.

It was extremely busy but managed to get a table. Food when delivered was cold. Won't be going back again.

“Does what it says on the tin”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

For those expecting gastropub-esque dining, or those who believe that they are over and above any food that is cooked in a microwave, I would not recommend a meal at this place. For everyone else, it does the job and it does it well.

You get what you pay for. Not brilliant food, but certainly not terrible. Having been a few times, I would say it can be a bit "hit and miss" with certain foods. You can't really go wrong with burgers, nachos and the like and are all safe bets. Good portion sizes too. If you have a slice of cake from the rotating stands, expect to loosen the belt by a notch.

The bar is well stocked, although the lager choices are limited. Staff are friendly and enthusiastic.
