“Lovely Stay”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

A lovely place with very well maintained individually designed rooms, excellent staff who are very pleasant and an outstanding breakfast. Would be a great hotel for a weekend away for a couple as the area is very nice too.

Only booked this because other local hotels were full - so glad they were as it was more than we hoped for in an overnight stay. Welcome extremely friendly and informative, beautifully presented property and an excellent breakfast - if you decide to stay remember to ask about the walled garden !

Stayed for one night in the Bridal Suite as a Birthday treat. Lovely room, very well equipped with quality bedding, bone china tea-cups & vases of fresh roses adding some real class. Soft fluffy towels & wonderfully thick dressing gowns. The bathroom is fantastic; double ended roll top bath, feature shower & an enormous dressing table around the sink unit, plentifully stocked with complimentary toiletries. Really luxurious! Access to Reeds leisure club was included with our room, a short 4 minute walk around the corner providing a gym, pool, sauna, steam & jacuzzi. Although very busy on a Saturday afternoon it was an enjoyable extra. Our room was at the front facing on to the road, so I was slightly concerned we'd get some traffic noise but not at all. In fact we had the best night sleep in a long time - very peaceful. The Cottage restaurant is a 2 minute walk away, as is a pub & Indian restaurant. We chose The Cottage & enjoyed a 4 course home-cooked meal in a friendly environment. Our chosen breakfast time was very busy & Jurgen the chef did a great job delivering freshly cooked breakfasts whilst supervising interns. The buffet selection was plentiful in choice & quality, with a lovely bowl of fruit salad as centrepiece incorporating blueberries & strawberries, not just your basic apple & melon job. We sat at the overflow table in a seperate dining room & enjoyed the company of another couple, all very pleasant. The hotel provides free WiFi which was secure & easily accessible from our room - a small table to hold a laptop on by the sofa would be a useful addition to the room. All in all a very enjoyable stay which provided a touch of luxury in a relaxed & friendly atmosphere.

Room Tip: If its a special occasion go for the Bridal Suite!

We have just had a fantastic stay at Kegworth House for my wife's birthday... Stayed in the sleigh bed room, it was huge, with an equally huge bathroom - definitely our best weekend away. The owners were so helpful on the phone while we debated whether to risk it as the snow came in and gave us a lovely welcome when we finally arrived.
There was the largest selection of breakfast choices we'd ever seen, & then Jurgen cooked us a full English to die for...
Would recommend the hotel to everyone! Thanks!

We were travelling across the country to pick my son up for the Christmas break from Loughborough university, on the way back we also were picking up his girlfriend from De Montfort university in Leicester. The location was perfect for this being less than ten minutes away from Loughborough Uni.
The hotel has been well described previously on this site and the kegworth House does not disappoint. The car park has electric gates (does not seem too bad an area though) and the building is very well looked after. I would say the owners treat it as a labour of love, as the small tasteful items which decorate the accommodation really make the difference. In the large sitting room (perfect if you are meeting friends) is full on oldy worldy and as it's Christmas had a beautiful tree and associated decorations - simply marvellous.
Our room was large (Empire Room) and extremely good value for money.
We enjoyed the breakfast tremendously, which was cooked by the chef/manager - Jurgen. Attention to detail, here again extremely good.
To summarise we will be staying again, as it suited us perfectly, if I had to include proviso's in this review, I think I would say that it should be noted that there is no provision to have an evening meal here. This does not worry me in the slightest as I always make the point of eating outside any hotel I stay at during evening meal. If you are a single lady on business, this may prove to be not ideal.
The second thing is, that when you are having breakfast you will be eating at one large table. In today's faceless corporate world, this is unusual, but we really enjoyed meeting and chatting to people we would have not normally have met. The table is however big enough that if you wish to keep yourself to yourself, you can do that too.
We finished off our visit, on the day we left, by visiting the swimming pool and health spa, which is just round the corner, at another hotel. This was very enjoyable, and considering the rate we paid, icing on the cake for our stay.

Room Tip: All rooms at this hotel are very nice, if you wish to pick your room personally, there is clever web...
