“Spa weekend”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

had a wonderful time here from start to finish with a group of 13 ladies on a spa break - lovely clean hotel, staff very helpful and friendly - room bit chilly at first but then put heating on, spa treatment fabulous, pool, tropical shower, steam room etc excellent, lovely light lunch, dinner good, staff very friendly especially at dinner - we sang happy birthday to a little boy who was six and in return he played his new guitar and sang for us - a very nice relaxing break and would definitely go back

Stayed here on a spa break with my best friend. The bedrooms are lovely very spacious with everything you could need. Shower was a little 'slow' but very comfortable beds.
We ate in the restaurant which was lovely- great food, excellent staff- my friends very fussy and they catered for her no problems, same at breakfast.
The thing that let our stay down was the reception staff with his lack of information, on check in we weren't told about breakfast, dinner times, where the spa was (silly it being a spa break) we were asked if we wanted wifi that was all. He took our card of us without telling us what it was for- it felt like he didnt want us to be there. however checkout was better with a lovely lady who was very helpful.
Spa is relaxing but there's not much there it's very small, excellent treatments though.

Two adults with 2 kids (half term holidays) we booked this last minute as a stop over on the way to visit a very ill relative up North.

The hotel was well located near East Midlands airport, and easy to find, although Radisson and Holiday Inn are nearer the airport if you are travelling from there. There is parking at the hotel.

There were plenty of 'cheaper' / better options (we normally stay at Novotel Nottingham East Midlands - HIGHLY recommend), but we decided to pay a LOT extra to stay here so the kids could go swimming as it was their half term and the next day was going to be a difficult one for us all . We arrived after 6pm, and the pool does not allow kids in after 6pm (doesn't state this on the web site), the kids were hugely disappointed and this spoilt it.

The room itself was comfortable and clean, decent sized bed, tv, hairdryer, shampoos etc, but no tea/coffee making facilities.

The kids had a sofa bed which was ok for smaller kids but not for a 13yr old and 6 yr old. We decided not to give the hotel any more of our custom so did not eat there that evening (went to the nearby 'Otter', which was interesting).... however breakfast was included but again was disappointing for the kids, no pancakes, waffles or breakfast muffins for them, but the cooked breakfast was ok for us, nothing special though. Breakfast is until 9.30 on weekdays, but they start clearing away promptly, so don't leave it till 930 to go down to breakfast. We got there at 9.15 and breakfast was not fully replenished and some of it was cold. Staff were keen on clearing away so we had to wait for tea/coffee.

Would not stay here again unless it was a cheap deal for an airport park and ride.

Dear jacobsyummymu

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry to read your kids were left disappointed about not swimming. It is on our website under Reeds Health and Spa Club tab on the main menu giving opening times of the pool and also children’s opening times.

There are tea and coffee making facilities are in every room and are located under the TV in a cupboard next to the free to use safe.

I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay and if you are in the area again, please contact me direct.

Kindest Regards

We stayed here overnight prior to an early morning flight from East Midlands and was really impressed. Definitely the best Best Western hotel I've ever stayed at, certainly deserving of its group hotel of the year award from a few years back. The room was quite spacious and the bathroom spotless. The food we had was also really good. The airport parking system they have including mini bus transfers to East Mids was really slick. They give you a key fob with a number to call once you've collected your bags. There was a driver already at the airport when we called, so no waiting, and we were dropped right at our car and our keys were in an envelope ready to give to us, we didn't even have to go in to reception. When you're tired after a long days travelling, the little things mean a lot and it seems they've really thought about what their customers want . Would definitely stay again, especially if travelling from East Midlands airport.

Booked via secret escapes. Friendly greeting at reception and quick check in.

Bedroom was lovely, hallway to bathroom and wardrobe, door to bedroom then space for sitting room area with sofa at the end of the bed and table and chairs by the window. Bed was large and very comfy. Room looked to have been recently refurbished. (Freshly painted walls and new carpet) Bathroom had a green suite, but was spotless and had bath with shower over, sink, loo and bidet.
Food in the restaurant was lovely, but booked a table for 8pm and did not get seated straight away so consequently got first course at 9.10 and did not finish eating until 11.10! Think this was due to the fact they simply did not have enough tables that night to meet demand as part of the dining room was partitioned off and not in general use.
Staff were friendly at the hotel and it had large rooms and excellent facilities. Dining room was enlarged next day for breakfast which worked really well as didn't have to wait long for a table and there was plenty of food to choose from, buffet style, something for everyone. Checking out was quick and easy.
Would stay again/recommend
