So pleased I found Sladen Lodge, what a great place to stay. Firstly the location is superb. Just on the outskirts of Hathersage, which is a lovely place. There is so much on the doorstep within walking distance, shops, pubs, restaurants and of course fantastic walks. The property itself was outstanding. Each bedroom had it's own en-suite, and the beds could be made into either 2 singles or one enormous double which was great when organising a big family group. The kitchen was superbly equipped and included two dishwashers which was important when we had 14 adults and 3 young children staying. The dining room was spacious, so too was the sitting room, with a couple of other spaces for those that wanted a quiet area. Each bedroom had it's own TV although we did have some trouble with getting 3 of them to work, but this wasn't too much of a problem as there was a large TV in the lounge/sitting room. Sladen Lodge is very well heated and we did have a little problem trying to get the heating just right for us. Bedrooms 1 & 7 face the front of the building and have the nicest views, whilst the other rooms are at the back. It's well worth deciding what you want from the bedroom you choose, some are nearer the lounge so may be noisy if several people are staying up late, whereas rooms 5, 6, 7 and 8 are in the 'quieter' end of the house. There was also a separate toilet. The additional utility/drying room was superb with plenty of space for us to hang up our damp walking kit. We met one of the owners who was really helpful, and I'm sure the little problems we had with the TV's and the heating will be resolved. There was not one single complaint from our group and we would all definitely stay again.

What a wonderful place for a family gathering. We had our golden wedding here recently and the setting and everything in the house was perfect. The overflow of guests stayed some in Julie’s Bed and Breakfast next door and also some at the George hotel just a couple of hundred yards up the road. We had such a great time. Sladen Lodge has a lovely family feel and all the extra comforts we required, and the best part was not having to do all the beds and bathrooms afterwards as would have happened if we had had it at our own home. Emma from Gourmet Express did the catering for us and could not have been bettered. All the food was delicious and we can highly recommend her and her lovely staff. We now need an excuse for another visit and only hope we don’t have to wait until our Diamond Wedding Anniversary!!!!

I had the privilege of staying at Sladen Lodge as part of a work based training assignment. It surpassed my expectations. The lodge was spotlessly clean, the food was delicious, the proprietors were exceptionally warm and concerned, but they also always managed to remain "in the background" as we executed our endeavours and as they supported us.
The drive to the location was spectacular. And the coffee! Love them for the coffee alone.

A group of eight of us used Sladen Lodge last week for a two day work-and-play retreat.
The Lodge is welcoming and comfortable and Julie keeps it immaculately.
She was the best of hostesses, offering us amazing breakfasts and even better lunches and the venue worked perfectly for our meetings, whilst the setting gave us glorious countryside to explore during down-time.
If you do host a corporate or group event, then please ask for Emma Glossop (who lives locally) to prepare your evening meals - her culinary art knows no bounds and we could have been in a five-star restaurant, judging by her superbly delivered menus.
Thank you Julie, for a memorable stay.

i wanted to write this review to share & let people know how good sladen lodge is.
right from the first contact thru to the weekend itself anna & the owners were brilliant in terms of helping me to organise our weekend.
we as a group have travelled quite extensively abroad & at home for long weekends & longer holidays & we all agreed that sladen lodge was as good if not better than any house, apartment or villa that we'd stayed in before.
as well as being in a brilliant position with amazing views & a lovely place (hathersage) its got more than enough of all the amenities you might need, they have 2 of all the important things ie kettles, fridge/freezer, dishwasher's even 2 kitchens. even the little things were better than most places, ie enough cutlery for everyone 3 times over & plenty of glasses etc, even loads of spare tea towels lol.
the house itself is big & spacious and very clean, the bedrooms are top quality, very comfortable and the power showers were excellent too, i cant recommend this place highly enough, & im pretty sure we will be going there again

Excellent property, very comfortable and superbly located. Very well equipped for a large self-catering group (we were a party of 16). The owners were friendly, helpful and well organised. Would definitely recommend.

There were 14 of us. All the bedrooms are of a similar, good size with on-suite bathrooms so no-one could say they drew the short straw and got the box room! We were a girls group so we requested all single beds - no problem whatsoever. Large lounge with comfy sofas, a smaller, quieter lounge and a lovely, light central area running through the middle of the house. Pine table big enough for us all to sit together. Two kitchens with so much equipment that you never run out. Having two dishwashers was a bonus too. Set back from the road and up a hill, gave it great views across the hills. We were fortunate to have gorgeous sunny weather so we made the most of the outdoor seating which is south facing. The owners were easily contactable if we had any problems, which we didn't! Great place within easy walking distance of Hathersage centre.
