“La Bodega, Glossop”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

Visiting from East Midlands, so chose this restaurant from a quick Google search.

We went for evening Tapas - the whole family enjoyed this great little restaurant - nana, grand kids, aunty and mum and dad.

Lively (bit noisy - but I actually like that as it all adds to the fun!) - a very friendly and informal place - clean and well kept - food nice and fresh, wine and the service - all good!

Will definitely go again!

“Disappointed is an understatement”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

After reading positive reviews on trip advisor we were excited to try this local restaurant. We had a party of five and it started badly when we could only get in the restaurant two at a time as they had put a poor customer sat eating in the door way whilst the rest of the restaurant was empty at that time. There were several large tables and we were placed on a table for 4 with a chair placed on the end to make up the numbers.
Alarm bells started to ring when the food was brought out moments after ordering which is always disconcerting. The garlic bread was a half baguette with the barely a hint of garlic and the fresh bread was served plain with no olives, balsamic, butter or oil as an accompaniment. The meals that followed did not improve. The Patats bravas were basically frozen roasties with a tin of chopped tomatoes over the top and the garlic potatoes were the same except for being drowned in what seemed to be Helmans mayonnaise. The calamari was clearly cooked from frozen and we had to try splitting 4 small chicken wings between the 5 of us which isn't easy. White bait and lamb stew were equally as uninspiring and we are still picking the tough recooked pork belly from our teeth nearly an hour after we have left. We were out and done in under an hour and were £70 lighter feeling very fleeced and hungry to boot! Needless to say we will not be returning and that is the most disappointing thing to say about a local business that we wanted to desperately support.

“Good food and good atmosphere”
Reviewed September 15, 2013 via mobile

The 3rd time I've been to La Bodega and it is always a good standard. Ordered 7 tapas between me and Basil. All were very tasty. Enjoyed the meatballs, prawn and pork very much. Good bottle of Chilean Merlot added to the meal - although it was mainly consumed by Basil. Friendly service from all in the restaurant, so a really good night.

Took my daughters here for dinner 7/09/13. Good selection of tapas , enjoyable evening, pleasant staff. Would eat here again. For the High Peak wine was expensive!

“Great food, great location & wonderful staff”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

This is a family ran Spanish themed restaurant in the small high peak town of Glossop, it is not a Spanish restaurant in a small Spanish town, so not sure what other people (moaners) were expecting. We need to support local businesses as much as we can. My wife and I have been visiting this great little find for sometime and have never had a bad experience. The food is very creative with a really good authentic Spanish twist, the ambience is superb due to the intimate size of the place. We always find the service to be friendly and as informal as you prefer i.e. if your nice I'm sure they will be too. We recently had a small family celebration and chose 'La Bodega' for all of the above. The wine selection is great and we never feel we have overstayed our welcome. As with any small restaurant it will always be busy, so booking in advance is a sensible thing to do. The fact it is intimate makes it special, if it catered for larger parties it would ruin the dining experience of others - I guess there some people who are not bothered about other people, just themselves. If so go and visit one of the larger bland chain of Spanish themed restaurants and leave this one to the locals who really appreciate it.
