We stayed here as a family for 3 nights between Christmas and New Year. It was excellent. The beds were very comfortable, the breakfast was 5*and the location was just superb. 6 pubs are with walking distance and so are some of the best walks in Derbyshire. Clare and Robbie were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. We would highly recommend staying here! You won't be disappointed.

My girlfriend and I fancied the night away, our only requirements being a good B&B and a nice meal.
I booked the Ramblers Rest and it was fantastic. I've stayed in a few B&B! And sometimes you find theirs an air of awkwardness which can make you feel uncomfortable. But not at the Ramblers Rest. Claire and Robbie were great hosts, but not in that sickly sweet-fake-got-to-be-nice way, in a genuinely friendly pleased to meet you way.
We arrived in the early evening, with plans of a quick change of clothes and then finding somewhere to have wine and a nice meal. We were met by Claire who recommended a couple of places and booked a table for us at the Nags Head.
This was much appreciated as when you're only there for a short time, you don't want the disappointment of a chappy meal.
Castleton has a great atmosphere and has six pubs close together so you can have a little pub tour round. It really is brilliant
But the best bit of our visit to castleton was the Ramblers Rest. Exactly want you want, clean, relaxed, reliable, friendly and great bacon.
Get. It. Booked.

What a great little find. Not knowing the area or the b&b we feel every lucky to have spent new year in a very beautiful spot, residing in lovely accomodation. Great room, helpful hosts, cracking breakfast and plenty to do right at the door step.

There is nothing that is too much trouble for Robbie and Claire! So very accommodating and helpful to our needs, going the extra mile to make our stay much better than the average b&b. Excellent local knowledge of what to do, where to go! Top people!

Having recently returned from a night in the ramblers rest I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting a tranquil weekend in the peaks.

The hosts were very accommodating even up to the point of arrival when we were informed another room had become available should we wish to change.

Having stayed here some 15 years ago I can say without doubt it has improved tenfold.

The whole visit was an absolute pleasure. The rooms, bed, bathroom and breakfast were fantastic.

Would recommend to anyone.

Looking forward to booking again soon.

Robbie and Claire excellent hosts. Nothing too much trouble. Our room was warm and welcoming on a very cold night and well equipped. The bed in particular very comfortable. The room had independent access so if we had chosen to come in late we would not have had to worry about making a noise. We ate at The Nag's Head which was recommended by Claire and only a couple of minute's walk away. Car parking space opposite the property which is a bonus in a village where free parking is at a premium. You ocean leave your car and access everywhere. We visited the local church to see the Christmas tree festival which was beautiful. Well worth a visit. Good breakfast to start the day. Thank you for a lovely chill out break before Christmas.

have just returned from a two night stay at the ramblers rest.
the owners, Claire and Robbie are very friendly and helpful.
good location in the center of the village.
great high walled parking area across from the property.
breakfasts were very nice.
our room, number 3, was very small but had character.
both the en suite and the room were spotlessly clean.
