We went here two or three times whilst we were in the area for a drink and or a meal. Interesting old fashioned pub, thankfully not part of a chain. Lots of interesting things in the bar area, low beams etc plus good food and real ales. The food was good, resonably priced and the service was friendly.

We were married Sunday 16th Sep and only had a few days off together due to work commitments. On arrival the staff were very friendly, helpful and showed us to our room. We stayed in room seven the four poster suite and would highly recommend it.It was very well decorated, clean, warm, comfy, spacious and had a huge luxurious tub and was just what we were looking for.The pub itself has exposed beams and is very welcoming, warm and had a lovely relaxed atmosphere with a fantastic selection of ales and wines. We dined in the evening and again the staff service was excellent, food fantastic and plentiful and the dining room atmosphere and decor again excellent. At breakfast we were greeted and seeted by the manager and had a large variety of cereals to choose from with plenty of juice, tea and coffee. The breakfast menu was varied with something for everyone,we had a full english and the vegetarian option and once again it was excellent and plentiful. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay really special we will definately be returning and the truth is we can't praise them highly enough our only regret is that we did'nt have enough time to make our stay longer!!!

Room Tip: Room Seven

I was fortunate to book a room last minute. We counted ourselves very lucky to have found a room at the Ye Old Cheshire Cheese Inn. The room was clean and of a good size. The bathroom was also quite luxurious with a big tub. During the afternoon/eve we spent time in the pub which was also full of inn patrons. I would highly recommend if you are staying in Castleton as its close to everything and a very comfortable, unique place to stay.

We spent 3 days at the Cheshire Cheese pub inn. The rooms were roomy with ensuite bathrooms. Clean and comfortable.Has parking. The pub is magical. The decor was so cozy and seemed Old World. There were beams displayed the Innkeepers Galley with names and dates of the prior owners on the wood beams going back to the 18th century. The staff was fantastic. Alex was so helpful during our stay. Everyone was friendly. Breakfast and dinners were consistently delicious. The Real Fudge Company was across the street which we truly recommend. Peter and Monica have a wonderful sweet shop. The fudge is made with pure ingredients daily. Lovely village with beautiful scenery. Would definitely return on our next visit!

Room Tip: We stayed in the outdoor larger room the first night and then a room upstairs from the pub. Both wer...

We recently stayed in Room 7 and enjoyed it a lot. The hotel is clean and has everything you could need. The room was spacious and you can't fault the location, being right in the centre of Castleton and within walking distance to some of the Caverns. The food at Cheshire Cheese was gorgeous and being vegetarian I found that there was plenty of choice including a veggie breakfast in the morning. Staff are friendly and helpful and the whole place has a relaxed feel. Would definitely recommend.

Ye old cheshire cheese inn is by far the best eating establishment that i have ever eaten inside.
The food was delicious and great value for money.
The lighting inside created the perfect ambiance to make you feel at home after coming in, out of the rain outside.
There was a large choice of good food on the menu.
I will definatly recomend this to a friend.
