“Good food and friendly service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

We visited the Food Angel twice whilst the Cinnamon Bear (now called the Causeway) Cafe was being refurbished and thoroughly enjoyed their toasted sandwiches and soups. You will do to resist the temptation of the varied pastries.

Pity they have no toilet on site but you can use one at the pub opposite. We will be returning to the Food Angel on next visit to Castleton

“What? No loos?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2013

Don't think I've ever experienced a cafe where you have to pop over to the pub to use the toilet! Plenty of choice on the menu - we decided on a take away and ate our sarnies on route to a toilet. Nothing to write home about really.

“Delicious food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2013 via mobile

We visited this cafe and were relieved to see that they accepted cards as we were without cash when looking for lunch!! We had 3 hungry, noisy, under 5s with us and a baby and we felt welcome there. The cheese and tomato pizza was excellent and was perfect for the children to share. The sandwiches and panini's were delicious and the choice of fillings was excellent. I especially appreciated the vegetarian options as they were more adventurous than the usual ones you'd find! We had a 'relaxed' lunch (well as relaxed as is possible with young children!) and we didn't feel like we needed to rush out with the noisy children. The cakes were divine, the only downside being they weren't individually priced so we didn't know what the bill was going to be. This can be a problem when trying to stick to a budget! The other issue was that there were no toilets. They have an arrangement with the pub across the road and you use them but this isn't ideal with a recently toilet trained toddler who needs the toilet 'now' and a wriggly toddler who needs changing and we didn't find a changing table in the pub which made things tricky! All in all though, a delicious lunch stop!

Just got a take away the sandwiches are gorgeous, the choice of filling & breads was great, the fillings yummy, you can have what you like basically, all the ingredients were really fresh,
The cakes were as scrumptious as the look, don't bother doing a packed lunch, get yours from here, fab place
