“Snow fun!”

Ridge Walk Mam Tor to Losehill

We've done this walk no end of times, but never has it been so much fun. From Castleton, up Cave Dale behind Peveril Castle, turn right towards Windy Knoll and Mam Tor them all the way along the ridge to Lose Hill is a simple pleasure at the best of times, but with blue skies, bright sunshine and oodles of snow about, it took on a whole new character. Not too taxing if you've got a half decent level of fitness, the views are spectacular and you will keep stopping to take photographs! Definitely a favourite of ours and even better memories of it now in the snow! The drifts at the top were almost 7 feet deep! Four hours was enough for us, but slower walkers might take a bit longer.

This is a great walk for all enthusiasts. We usually park in the carpark under mam tor, walk along the ridge to loosehill and walk through Castleton and winnats pass back to the carpark.

The walk offers a range of levels some being on paths and others not so easily walked on. The views on a clear day are amazing and also goof wildlife to see.

Would definitely recommend, a great area of the Peak District.

Hard work getting to the top of mam tor but once there the views are worth every bit of energy. The walk along the top is very enjoyable, and the views are fantastic.if you can get there early in the morning on a bright sunny morning all the better .

We found a 5 mile walk around Mam Tor online starting from Castleton, walking along a road closed by landslides before climbing Mam Tor & walking along the ridge taking in the views before returning to Castleton. The weather was glorious until we were around halfway up Mam Tor & the heavens opened complete with gale force winds! We reached the summit after clambering through some pretty slippy, muddy patches & the weather changed within minutes to reveal the sun & beautiful views all around! There are toilet & cafe facilities at the caves you pass along the way. Overall, a lovely walk, well worth the climb to the top for the beautiful scenery & definitely a walk we'd do again if in the area.

Great views over the valley! Once you get up to the ridge the walk along the top is spectacular down both sides. Highly recommend it if in the area!
