Ate at Rose Cottage Cafe on the Sunday afternoon, and it was such a lovely and cosy place. Service was brilliant and so was the food. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Went into the tea room purely to drink teas and coffees, we were tempted and succumbed to cream teas and they were excellent, the coffee strong and full of flavour, a good scone and more cream and jam than will fit successfully on it.

After a fantastic full breakfast at the Swiss House a couple of hours earlier we ventured into Rose Cottage for a drink. But seeing the array of desserts our minds were changed. My wife had a piece of bakewell tart (hot) with ice cream and a pot of tea. Whilst I had a piece of Victoria sponge and a latte. The sponge was gorgeous, the best I've ever had. Cost £10.80. We'll be back.

It is such a shame when greed rules over everything else. There was a time when walkers and cyclists were welcome in this cafe but now money is the owners sole objective. We have been going in the hills for years followed by coffee and tea cakes in the Rose Cottage but now if you arrive at lunchtime tea cakes are off and you are expected to have a full meal. Yes 11.30 is the cut off point and even at 11.40 with the tables three quarter empty they will not bend the rules. We expect better than that - a place to avoid now. There are plenty of cafes to choose from and this one goes to the bottom of the pile. Shame on the owners - i see the place is for sale so lets hope the new owners have better principles.

The husband and I went into this little gem while trying to escape the rain. All the other places were packed with no spare tables but luckily we managed to grab a table here as it was being cleaned. Tea, scone with clotted cream and jam, coffee and choc fudge cake and ice cream set us back £9.40 but they were both lovely. My only criticism would be that my cream was less clotted more liquid. it came in a small plastic tub from an outside supllier that had obviously been out of the fridge for some time. But none the less, it was lovely.
