After a good walk in the Peaks I was really looking forward to a cream tea. Rose cottage was quaint and the cakes looked lovely. I ordered 2 cream teas, but when they arrived there was no clotted cream!!!!!!!! It was substituted with whipped cream. I wish that the waitress had told me they had run out when I ordered, as scones without clotted cream is just not on ;)
Anyway i chose a victoria sponge instead - which was delicious, as were the scones themselves. Clotted cream as well would have got a " very good" review!

A lovely olde worlde cafe situated in the heart of Castleton. Food cooked to order, reasonable specials menu. Wonderful cakes!!
We all enjoyed our meals, plenty of it, nicely served and reasonable prices. Waitress was lovely -nothing too much trouble. We could have sat outside, but it was a little chilly, although they did have a patio heater on. I would highly recommend Rose Cottage either for a full meal or coffee and cakes. It is shut on a Friday though!

Good value and quality restaurant for a snack lunch. Lovely home made soup, good value main courses 2 for £10 on Thursday when we went, plus cakes were also wonderful. You can eat inside or out on a sunny day both in pleasant surroundings.
Would go again.
