Radisson Blu Hotel, East Midlands Airport
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed November 11, 2012

Just have come back from a fabolous weekend stay with the family at Radisson. As we have three children it was hard to find a hotel that would accomodate all of us in one room. Besides, one of us is a wheelchair user therefore we needed a fairly big room anyway. At first our chances were looking bleak but then I came across Radisson @ East Midlands Airport, junior and one-room suites. Although the official occupancy is 2ad+2ch I was assured that a cot for the baby in the room wouldn't be a problem. Also, although the suites aren't officially wheelchair accessible I found that they are spacious and access is not compromised by any steps or anything. Although the price was more than what I usually spend for a room in Hilton or others on such occasion, 47 m2 of space (one-room suite) seemed to be a good value for money. And what a value it was...

To start with, we were greated allready in a car park and helped with our luggage. I was surprised how friendly staff were with the kids, because I wouldn't think that families are primary customers here. When we went to use the swimming pool the girls brought toys and other stuff for kids to play in the pool and were very helpfull.

The one-room (or senior) suite was very spaciuos, spotless, had very nice design. In the bathroom there was a bath as well as walk in shower and a separate wc (important, if you're staying with a family..). Good range of toiletries (including bath salt and hand cream). Included in the price of the room were good selection of movies (normally 6.95 per each), fridge with some drinks (coke, beer, sparkling and still water) and breakfast. Although I still think that best breakfast I've had was at Hilton Leicester, this didn't fall far behind. I couldn't resist when I saw a belgian waffle with syrup and cream on a menu. Although that wouldn't fall within my normal breakfast selection it was fabolous!

To sum everything up, it was relaxing and luxurious stay, spacious room, friendly staff. I even dare to say that it was the best stay I've had in UK. Would definetely recommend to others and hopefully stay there again in the future.

Dear tabaxpunk,

Thank you for your amazing review on Trip Advisor. It is so good to hear that you think this is the best stays you have had in the UK!

We are so pleased that you enjoyed the lovely Belgian waffles in our restaurant for breakfast. I will have to pay Hilton Leicester a visit though to try their breakfast, so hopefully we can make ours even better!

We look forward to welcoming you back soon!

Kind Regards

Booked for one night, prior to an early flight from EMA on Saturday 3rd November 2012. Had prebooked dinner in the Runway Brasserie and can honestly say it was excellent - service was fabulous. We checked in with a lady called Sue who couldn't have been more helpful in arranging our parking and transfer to the airport, which worked really well. Particular mention for Jo who collected us from the airport - such a jovial person! Will definitely return - well done Radisson Blu.

I stayed overnight at this hotel on Tuesday night last as I was attending a 2 day residential conference. It should be noted that I had no need to pay for either accommodation or food as these were included in the package which was covered by the hosting organisation.

The fee shuttle bus to the hotel from the East Midlands Airport was easy to contact (direct link via telephone) and locate, also arriving promptly to take us there. Our baggage was taken, placed in the rear of the vehicle and we (2 colleagues) enjoyed the short, comfortable and pleasant 5 minute journey to the Raddisson.
With bags removed by our courteous and professional driver we approached the checking desk at the early hour of 0805.
The Hotel had been full to capacity on the previous night so once again our bags were taken, a receipt was issued and we were invited to share some breakfast already on display from the conference reception area. We were informed that we could checkin during a break later in the day. Disappointing certainly, but understandable.
Arrival refreshments comprising a fabulous selection of fruit juices yoghurt compote, a good choice of herbal teas, coffee & snacks comprising fresh fruit, pastries and biscuits were freely available and replenished until the conference began at 10.00am, and a plethora of service stations encouraged speedy service and networking amongst attendees.
Buffet lunch catered well for the 150+ delegates, and whilst credit could be given to the conference organisers for their selection of food on offer - my comments of 'excellent' can only relate to the tastiness, quality and presentation - all outstanding!
For the Afternoon break we were spoilt for choice - fresh fruit, scones topped with preserve & fresh cream, and home made sweet Katie's suited me perfectly.

Having been allocated room 222 I was delighted when I entered a spacious bedroom, beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished. Everything I could need was available - tea/ coffee making facilities, safe, stoked fridge / mini bar, iron with ironing board, laundry and room service, extra pillows and blankets! The toilet was separate to the other bathroom amenities - shower over bath, sink, mirrors, hankerchiefs, shower gel, shampoo and body lotion.
An abundance of bulky fluffy towels - both the room and facilities all clean & shiny!
The Hotel is dedicated and compliant with ISO 14001 standards, and the electrical outlets available only when the room pass is docked upon entry into the individual room.
I had anticipated some noise due to the close proximity of the airport, but am delighted to report that my expectations where far from the experience which I enjoyed... All be it for to short a time!! I had to rise for another day at the conference after a great nigbt's sleep. The digital TV could accommodate DVD's, and both radio and wifi was free of charge. it was added bonus to be able to set a wakeup alarm myself, and to find no shortage of hot water or towels for a quick shower prior to breakfast.

The dinner we had was also good, However menu choice wouldn't have been mine. Service standards nothing special, but food quality good.

Hotel has a bird theme, rooms have feature wall with birds. All the essentials in the room - fridge, iron etc. Stunning bathroom. Meal the the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced. Despite being able to see the airport runway it was suprisingly quiet. Only downside was the pricey bar

The hotel is superb; the only way to describe it is amazing! Outstanding! And great for the Price! The staffs are friendly; the food is to die for! The pool and 2 saunas are lovely! And the best of all for me was the room, free coffee, espresso, latte, cappuccino, coke, water and snacks! Even the room service is cheap! There is nothing about this hotel you can complain about! Even the parking is super cheap! + Free shuttle service to the airport!

I’ve stayed in many hotels through my travels and this one is in the top 5! It compares to the Hilton in downtown New York!

If you’re looking for a relatively cheap stay! Great service and outstanding food then this is defiantly the place for you! And if you’ve got kids they will love the pool! You can keep an eye on your kids playing while you’re using the glass gym looking over the pool! Also a brilliant addition to this already great hotel!

If anyone can give me negative feedback about this hotel then go ahead but personally with my travel experience this is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

WORTH THE MONEY! EVERY BIT OF IT!

Room Tip: Every room is superb! especially the Presidential Suite

We stayed here the night before a flight and it was a great start to our holiday. Apart from minor niggles with the room location, which were eventually sorted out on check in, the place is excellent. We had interconnecting rooms and they were the most comfortable rooms we've had in a long time. Nice firm beds, little noise. Lovely decor. Fridge. We usually stay at the Radisson Blu Manchester but this knocks spots off it...and it was cheaper.

Food was fantastic and reasonably priced for an airport hotel. The staff try so hard to please and it is a pleasant change from most hotels.

The parking service is excellent. Jones, who collected us on our arrival back was charming, polite, and a perfect gentleman delivering us to our car and helping with our cases. He was worth the stay alone! My husband liked keeping the keys to himself as we have to hand them in at Manchester. We're only sorry we're flying from Manchester in February....Manchester Radisson, take note!
